ODE TO JASON
(A FALLEN HERO)
This is a story about a boy whose dog ran away
Who, during a snowstorm, went out to play
Jason set out to find a loved one - no matter what the cost
But as the dog came home the little boy became lost
When you're a fourth grader finding a dog is no easy task
Should you risk your life for a pet? It depends on whom you ask
The fact that Jason said yes should come as no surprise
He loved that dog to pieces you could see it in his eyes
Little Jason was a hero so he set out through the snow
So it saddens my heart deeply to tell his tale of woe
What a brave little soul, right up until the end
What a brave little soul to go search for his friend
A little bit of inspiration is what he left behind
He listened to his heart, paid no attention to his mind
And right before he left our world with the situation oh so grim
The last thought that filled his head - his dog would do the same for him
The saddest of it all and the reason why we cried
If not for the heart of an angel he never would have died
When you think of him in memory try to wipe away your tears
And remember him for what he was which is wise beyond his years
FOLLOWING THE BLIND
Such a waste of time...
Following the blind
Open up your eyes
Haven't you realized?
'Tis better to lead them...
And still be breathing
Than it is to follow
And be the one left bleeding
Never wading in the springs of freedom...
And not understanding these things I speak of
Contemplating something hollow and misleading
And it brings many things...
Such as a false disguise by a gypsy king
In his lies we discover many truths...
Through his eyes we uncover his abuse
And his song of sorrow so many sing
For only a fool would break the sole rule...
Of the creator of thought
The earth shaker
The maker of everything
And all that there is to believe in or be bought
Is there really a tomorrow?
