When you feel safe here
There's no need to ask of your last residence
From quicksand to mud
Anything need to be known is evident
Waking up in morning
Pray it all fades away
Wake up in the evening
Pray it all fades away
Wake up in the afternoon
In the bed you lay
Wake up in the morning
And face another day

It's been three years since I saw my face
Every time I look the mirror breaks

I recall my first trip to the zoo

Because I am fugly

COVERINGS
I have many hats
I own a fisherman's hat yet I don't fish
Also a birthday hat
Yet I have yet to make a wish

I have a baseball cap
And on it my favorite team
As well as a straw hat
Reminding me of pretty nature scene

A stocking hat upon my ears
I find it strange not upon my feet
And of course a narrow blue visor
Exposing my scalp to summer's warm heat
which

Since meeting you I have traded all my coverings
Varying in all shapes and sizes
I now wear proudly a crown of happiness
As each coming day its height rises

No Rhyme or Reason

(With no rhyme or reason
It could happen to anyone)
When a cool palm melts into cold steel
As a hand extends but does not feel
A pokered face turns the tables after a bad deal
Fantasy vengence becomes real
Aim is taken as fate is seated
Pent up agression is suddenly revealed
The face eyes of
Aim is taken as fate is sealed
With no rhyme or reason
It could happen to anyone
All it takes is indifference
And the help of a gun

The child of indifference's treason

A cheer full of beer
The same shake of the hand
But the older I get
The more I understand

Both born of different names
But I believe in family by choice
So why does my brother
Listen to the same little voice?

Hope is still ahead of me
When I'm by myself
But the tide turns around
When I'm by myself

The questions seem to hide
When the answers are known
Can I live the life I want with my brother
Or do I have to go it alone

Was that a flash of brilliance
Or just the lightning crashing
Do I want to know the answer
Or should I stop myself from asking?

The truth about turtles

To live one day outside this glass
Even if next I come to pass
I dream the dream of being free
Your life be meaningless if you were me
A fairy tale, once upon a time I swam around
But presently no rock nor blue sky can he ever found
From five sides of glass free me please
While sixth lies open such a tease
Perhaps I should grow white wings so wide
To free me, release me, from where I reside
And teeth, so sharp to bite through screen
fly back to my home alone and unseen
To big cat sitting close I appear as a meal
My rock in my pond where I use to sleep
Where I was trapped and caught by nets that creep
yes, death or liberty - anything but this
for my sons and daughter and family I miss

And truly it plays for me.
Sometimes I try to write it down
Though it some how always remains free
So pure and true that no pen or paper
all could ever hold
Its the only song I have that's
mine in this world so cold
Sometimes the music sounds
When life has got me down
The only thing that awakes me from my sorrow
Sometimes the music plays
When my happiness goes away
Reminds me that there's always hope for
tomorrow
Conductor takes the lead with the [?]
waves the wand held in his hand

There are paths leading up and paths goin' down,
I just can't pack my bags and leave this town.
God's in you and maybe even in me,
But through this darkness its hard to see.
Got to keep searching I'll find it in time,
Hopefully I'll get there with you still mine.
The low road is easy but the high's full of pain
But the harder I try the bigger the gain.

Happy Birthday Jay
Today's the big day
We all brought you a present...
A big, blue chair
So you'll remember all of us
When we're not there
It's our pleasure to meet you
Even if its here at D.U.I.L.
But we better not see you here again
So you better keep your cool
You're a good kid
Who's just trying to get on track
But we're all paddling the same boat
So we'll cut you some slack
One last little piece of advice
To the man wearing the tag that
reads James Dwyer
The next time you get in a fight
Don't give him a right
Give him a pile driver
Happy Birthday

AS YOU LIKE IT questions by Tom Jensen

1. In AS YOU LIKE IT do you think that Shakespeare included Touchstone in this play considering that he isn't essential to the main plot? Do you think it might have anything to do with Silvius and Phebe?

2. Are there any characters or sets of characters in AS YOU LIKE IT that are either opposites or very similar to each other? If there is then what issues do you think Shakespeare was drawing attention to?
---
I do what I do
But at least I do it well
Will it get the better of me
Well only time will tell

Extreme in nature
No moderation
Trade your future
For a new sensation
Hoping you don't go
On a permanent vacation
But in this world
Both life and death are cause for celebration

With the waves gettin higher
There's no place to dock the ship
You're starting to look tired
Let me give you a tip

If anyone waving a flag
Or any one holding a badge
Comes your way
Listen to what I say
And run away
Don't look back
Grab your bags and pack
And that's a fact

I write about what the day brings then I
I decide what to add stop to rest
and what I liked the best , what to change
I picked this way though it might sound
strange
But The Instant my pen touches paper, everything
has changed
I write about a church burnin' down
My pen touches paper - a new one is
raised
I write about the man in the moon
My pen touches paper up shines the days
Enjoy what you got right now 'cause
soon it will be gone
Water evaporates, the rest it turns to dust
There's nothing that lasts so long
That you can ever trust
---
[illegible crossed out word] you
How long have you been sleeping?
How long have your eyes been closed?
I can only fall asleep when in safe keeping
The only time i'll leave myself exposed

When the yellow Sun is glowing
way way up high
You would never expect to see
Any stars up in the sky
But you know they're up there somewhere
You can see so clearly when all the lights are on
yet some
The lights there are things that can only be seen in the dark
But on those cold lonely nights
While clingin to emptiness so tight
Often is when you feel the spark
You know love is inside you somewhere
---
I've smoked so many cigarettes
I've probably given other people cancer
Light one up to kill the Time
While I'm searching for some answers
How did I become myself
There's a [crossed out word] million other people I'd rather be
Why is everything so dark and cold
Is this really how it was meant to be

Is this time something great will last 9
For those who come from where I come from 9

FROM A DISTANCE
Every day thousands of people
can be seen here walking Downtown
They pass the pizza parlor, gaze out
upon the harbor, there's so many
sights and sounds
Some are smiling like young children
while [?] others [?] looking at the ground
still more stand with hands in pockets
at the soap boxed man thinking get off it
I see a man searching for someone, for anyone
Yet as for me I'm searching for one specific
face in the crowd
I thought
10 From a distance I saw someone that
That looked [?] I thought was you
10 As I tried to quell these anxious feelings
I realized it was the siluette of a stranger
The sun is quite revealing
---
I'm writing
[crossed out] This is [/crossed out] my last will and testament
For I've [crossed out] found myself trapped in a [/crossed out] battle again
[crossed out] before being sent one into [/crossed out]
I have suffered defeat and tasted victory
Long after [crossed out] this war [/crossed out] I expect [crossed out] this war [/crossed out] fought for my country
As [crossed out] I [/crossed out] I sigh [crossed out] and then [/crossed out] I close my eyes
As I recall all the things that I fight for...
One, two, three small children down at my feet
And My daughter's who's grown up yet I never see [crossed out] with me [/crossed out]
My dear Helen who's always been [crossed out] where [/crossed out] [crossed out] one [/crossed out]
Certainly my family has always [crossed out] been [/crossed out] [crossed out] the [/crossed out] world to me

I wrote a letter to myself
But it was meant for someone else
---
I've got a brand new method to my madness
And very simply stated
This life I lead I hate it
Through all I have seen I have become so jaded
The only place I've left to look for help is inside
There's none that I trust enough to be my guide
Thus I am a victim to [illegible] what I've created
Become trapped in a time so antiquated
