STAKING THE FLAG
The Indians in teepees
Spoke English say
"In trouble deepie"
The cavalry is
Just about to charge
No dancing with wolves
When you're waltzing with Custerd
Forced into building casino's
And inventing new mustard
The pilgrims with muskets
are now at large
Trade whiskey for deeds
Throw in a few Beads
Then you know it's in the bag
Put men on the moon
You know its never too soon
Sometimes you have to push hard
When you're staking the flag

The path has not been paved

No need to ask directions
When you're heading home

led you astray

MY BEST FRIEND
One day at a time
Step by step
Suck toxins down
With every breath
Hand in hand
Right by my side
When We went our seperate ways
A Part of me died
In my time of weakness
I was never alone
Despise the day
Tobacco seeds were sown
My twenty friends
Though small in size
Became my foes
Whom I now despise
The truth is clear
They kill you slow
No pleading ignorance
For Everybody knows
When

HUNDRED DOLLAR HEADACHES
I am no witch doctor or magician
But I can turn a hundred dollar bill
Into a head ache
They're not even counterfit
Much too real to be fake
Way back in the day
When we learned how to barter and trade
We all thought we had it made
But tell that to the man
Who's job it was
To have to dig out all the graves
Oh baby, I dig a little every day
Every time a little deeper
And it is here that I will lay
Oh baby, You know this wasn't my first
choice
When they asked me what I wanted to be
I lost my nerve and then my voice
So My name went back into the pile
Finally they called my number again
I was still innocent as a child
But they left me standing in the rain
They handed me a shovel
Then told me I had to start right away
That was many, many years ago
And I'm still digging today

---

I can turn a hundred dollar bill
Into one hell of a headache
I can turn a pint of V.O.
Into a hell of a mistake
And I will dig forever
We all make mistakes

(From the partial sheet at the bottom):

The words on this page
I come here to collect my thoughts
To find a pair of scissors when I'm tied
I think to myself... up in knots
As soon as you're high something brings
As soon as you smile something makes you down
you frown
As soon as you blink the second has passed
As soon as you're close you run outta gas
I watch the children I've seen so many times
And their innocent eyes not yet knowing what's
knowing instore
With every game a new surprise
With every truth learned another lie
Under parents eye they run so free
Not a worry in the world, the way {struck: life} should be
And {struck: But} {struck: And} as they grow a little older
The winds blow a little colder
But it's calm before the storm
Mommy still has a blanket to keep them warm
She protects them for as long as she can
There are things children shouldn't have to
understand
Don't tell them the secret...
As soon as you're high something brings you
down
As soon as you smile something makes you frown
As soon as you blink the second has past
As soon as the sun rises the shadow's been cast

I just felt it - a revelation,
From a higher power, a new sensation
Did you feel it- small vibration,
a complete focus of concentration
Feelin dizzy - head is spinning
Could this be it ? a new begining ?
Not really sure why I'm feelin it again, this way
Oh God, wish {struck: I didn't siss}, please don't take me away.
Hear a lost voice in my ear.
Try to listen, words aren't clear
Wish I knew what {struck: <s>oo</s>} {struck: or maybe it's "on"} saying,
It's almost time to start praying.
Heard something outside rather frightening,
Thought is was someone throwing lightening,
I just had a heart attack,
But my Religion just gave me back.
He decided not to take me away,
Down under where the Devils play.
I had the shivers or maybe the shakes
Just one more chance please I'll do what it takes.
I got a problem and you got the cure,
I'm so unstable yet you're so secure,
Did you finally get the better of me,
As I look around there're no Angels I see.
Do I have time for just one final plea?
My last dying wish is burial at sea.
Thank my lucky stars {struck: for} just a false alarm,
I was never really in danger, far away from harm.
Must say I'll sleep good tonight,
Just one favor can you leave on the light?

The words on this page
Empty blue lines fill my head while white
lines fill my brain,
I'm tying my galashas while standing in the
rain,
My long hair flowin' in the breeze while others wait
in vain,
I know some who hurt themselves and those who run
from pain.
But me I come from a different breed,
A little less jealousy a little bit more greed,
I don't know you or what you've seen,
And you don't know me or the places I've been.
Sometimes you need to be burned by the sun,
Convincing yourself that you're number one,
Tomorrow it changes, back to the bottom again,
Though never the same your mind it will bend,
Nothin' left to do, Scooby doo comin' for you,
Better go and find a lucky horse shoe.
Young minds all around, knowledge can't be found,
I'm shining up my shoes for a big night on the
town,
But I'll probably come home when there's no one
around,
Though free from my handcuffs my hands are still
bound.
I'm stone cold like Austin after I'm slammed
to the ground,
After being up for awhile I find my way down.

The words on this page
I'm gonna buy me a guitar
Maybe someday I'll learn how to play
I've already written the lyrics
So I know exactly what I'll say
Its taken so long to get where I'm at
I'm still looking for a place where I can lay my hat
I'd like to shake your daddy's hand because he
raised you right
I'd like to kiss your momma for tucking you in at night
If you fall I'll pick you up - because your my baby
when you're down I'll cheer you up - because you're my baby
I'll do my best to bring you back to earth - when you're
goin crazy
And I'll do it every time - you ask not lazy
Everybody needs a helping hand - sometimes even two
when you need me I'll be there and I know I can count on you
when I cry you'll dry my tears - that's what lovers do
Just as child needs his mom when he falls down and
scrapes his knee
The touch of your lips makes my pain go away - that's
what your kisses do to me

---

I've wrote too many sad, sad songs,
The love we had was once so strong.
Please tell me where we went wrong
I need you back it already been too long.

I'm coming to find you so please don't hide,
Open your heart again let me back inside,
Told my self I was better off without you, know
I know I lied,
When you left my better half died.
Even though I'm a man I'll swallow my pride,
When you lay down the law I'll promise to abide.

I'll admit I wasn't right, and I had my priorities
confused,
You're not the only one who hurts, we're both been
abused.

When I write for you it flows so pure,
I'm sick of disease and I've found a cure.
In my world of confusion I'm uncertain where to turn.
No matter what path I choose the other will burn.
I know what I have but what have I lost?
Love has its prices and love has its costs.
I live in the present but soon it could pass,
My feet can be cut if I shatter the glass.
I know what I have, yet I dream of more,
When life has you down you've got to settle the score.
Whenever I see you my body it shapes,
I promise I'll do anything, tell me what it takes.
Driving here sent shivers down my spine,
As I know what I have and what could be mine.
Life is a game and you give it all you got,
There's one second left as I take the last shot.

---

I set out on my own today
I left my watch at home today
My life I call my own today
Rules I make my own today
I can feel winter melting with every breath I
breathe
I met with old man winter and told him that he
should leave
I walked out through the door and left my jacket
home
Fifty-nine degrees disconnect the phone
I wouldn't stay in this house if you paid me
When it was too cold to leave the house it drove me
Crazy

Today I'm finally free
My religion is here and now
Only what I can see
Pray to the man who walks his dogs along
For I haven't seen him it's been so long
Pray to children playing in the park
For until now its been way too dark

It's time to wake up
Awake from out of your spell
Can you smell that there's something in the air
So familiar that I know it all too well

One must be careful
Of the company they keep
For you do not know what your mattress does
While you are asleep

There's a lobbyist sleeping in the lobby
Because they moved the capitol up to the hill
He's dreaming of his new hobby
He looks like he's dreaming still

The man which the lobbyist selected
His ego is inflated but he doesn't care
Has anyone noticed that the president we elected
His head is filled with graying hairs

The dam next to where we live
Has suddenly sprung a leak
It's leaking like a siv
So it seems that the future looks bleek

Old men who've already
Lived a lifetime
Still think they get better with age
But sour grapes do not make a fine wine

The words on this page
The coming of fall
There's a man too wobbly to stand
On the topside edge of a mountain
Sitting, searching for the truth
for some worldly proof of an eternal fountain

Kneeling, he stares at his hands
While meanwhile peeking over his shoulder
Feebly, he attempts to stand
Sensing a northern wind blowing colder

Through a clear sky he enters a haze
With wrinkles around his eyes he gazes West
He numbers his time in minutes not days
Trying to remember a past he now forgets

The sun sets over the distant horizon
Calming Darkness begins to call
A breath of October is quietly inhaled
[?] [?]
There is no mistaking the coming of fall

---

We know the search is never easy
As you've found the bottom of your drink
Though when your soul feels uneasy
Sometimes it makes you think

Would we be better
If we never considered ourselves brothers
Would our world be different
Had we never met each other

When in need of advice
Each other we seek
Yet the same hell goes on
Every week to week

Same ol Brand new day...
Same old story
We keep seeing ourselves
But the scenery gets boring

One hand washes the other
But the same goes when you're in the dirt
When all is said and gone you're still my brother
Even though we're the only ones getting hurt

---

We've both seen the worst that can happen
Even through what seemingly was the best of times
Celebrated many of nights
Written many a rhymes

It may in fact be hip to be square
Unfortunately the circle keeps its shape
We still got some years
But just how long will it take?

We never want to give up
On a family member taken in
But the question pops up
when you're surrounded by sin

False Gods I have never preached
By some higher power up there I truly [couple] beseech
Come to the aid of a fellows out of reach
Who's life's goal is goodness to teach

Giving to the takers
Take nothing from those who give
Do it long enough
You'll find your way to the bridge

---

Blank Page so I must fill it
The truth some one must spill it
And I don't really [strikethrough] hear on the radio
Believe in anyone I
Someone must carry the torch
That can't be bought by money or taken by force
Someone must tell the story that we all know
Why should I be one to speak for my generation?
Because we need all the help we can get when it's our turn
to rule the nation
It's a scary thought
From where I sit
We got still twenty years
Until we come to it
Can't blunder it
We've got to find something to believe in
Something greater than ourselves

There's no more secrets
No more hiding what you know is true
And you better believe it
No more denying to your self
No more lying to everyone else
Self-crucifying... that's what you do
Jesus Christ! Yeah, he did it too
{struck: }
What's left to play
When you can't play pretend?
Just what can you say ?
When you know it's the end
This crippling disease has taken its toll
Will never heal, {struck: } will never mend
No escaping the demons that have {struck: taken control}
A man who's lost his mind has lost his soul
When you lose the love then that's the
end
While you've been praying for salvation
I've been thinking about all the time
you've been wasting
You're not a failure
If you choose another sailor
Because the one you've got
Keeps crashing into the dock
{struck: } running from the cops
And breaking up on the rocks
Seems the madness never stops
{struck: } In your mind you flip then flop
A broken down Merry-go-round
When you gonna get off?

The words on this page
As old as the earth is
Why do you even try to be original?
You thought you were the first to discover fire
Until sadly, you spotted someone else's smoke signals
Went to the patent shop
It's big and round so you called it a wheel
Then you ran out to find a cop
Asking if you go to jail if an idea you steal
You put your head back down
And kept on walking
Muttering something about some cell
Someone should be locking
Usually the short end of the stick
Always a roll of the dice
Others only have to pay once
But you always end up paying twice
The blame is pointed
The burden is passed
You were the first in line
Only to be served last

The words on this page
Just heard such a laim band it makes
me wanna write,
If I saw them on the street those punks
would have to fight.
Wasting up our time with some made up
phrase,
If they got in my head they'ld be trapped
in a maze.
It takes more to be an artist than havin'
a cute blonde in the band,
I wouldn't say nothin' but lately it's gettin'
out of hand.
Serry says "kiss me and I'm thinkin
outta my head,
If I'm her biggest fan maybe she'll
crawl into bed?
If you want reality you're better off
listening to me,
I'll be here for awhile before they carry me
off to sea.
If you're looking for information you know I'm
your safest bet,
In this world of uncertainty you take what
you can get.
They say its the easy way, livin' life on the run,
But I knew a man who did it he said it ain't
much fun.
It don't matter if you're number one or on the
bottom of the pile,
Sometimes everybody everywhere has to walk
the extra mile.
There's a man down the street who doesn't trust a soul,
He's never heard of a diamond coming from a piece of coal.

Everyone afar never looks my way
Is this pergatory?

Nothing ends, Nothing begins
Is this my fate?
Will the grave I dug forever hold me?
Is this my fate?
Forever unfulfilled, Forver lonely?
Is this my cross to bear?
Seems my pen is my best friend
Is this my cross to bear?
I turn around but noone's there
Isolation, desolation, desperation
Agrivation, Agitation, seperation
I belong to this world
Though it does not belong to me
I am bound to every ball and chain
All the while telling myself that {struck: I am} free
Because that's what I need

As the bell starts sounding
My heart starts its steady pounding
Legs start running I start to wiggle my hips
My master comes and I lick my lips

I have become Pavlov's dog
Simply someone elses pet
Chaired to a nature
I am unable to forget

---

I KNEW HER TOO WELL
She's crazy as Hell
Her brain's turned to jell
Now Does that ring a bell?
She got nothing to sell
Too many stories too tell
[blacked out text]
wasn't doing so well
Now does that ring a bell?

Now she's gone clean
No more chasing the dream
and Acting so obscene
her Senses far from keen
Decked out in punk and gleam

---

you work so you can
pay for school
clutching pennies is like pulling teeth
After work then after play
you forgot to pencil in SLEEP
How many homes do you need?
Until you finally move in
How many friends do you meet
Until you find your new best friend?

---

I KNEW I must be some one special
The night I started writing poems on plates.
The first time I knew I was special
was the time my paper arrived late

SNIPER
Who am I?
And what are my reason
I've got my rifle by my side
And it's hunting season
I'm just another face in the crowd
Waiting to make my next move
Eight A.M. [redacted] and already out on the prowl
I wonder how long I can keep my cool
Random is the way it has to be
Can't have any motive or connection following after me
One bullet at a time we write the headlines of the front page
I AM GOD
I AM DEATH
I AM YOUR OLD AGE
[redacted] AT RANDOM
OR IN SECLUSION
I AM Reality
THIS IS no illusion
Go about your business
This sniper will find you
Look over your left shoulder
I AM RIGHT Behind you
Yet you cannot see me
I AM in seclusion
Death is reality
I AM NO illusion
Some may call me crazy
But I don't see it that way
I AM JUST another Hunter
And you are all my prey
We could be your neighbors
We could be your best friends
We could be terrorists
But only when you catch us
Will you be safe again

I used to be rollin'

So now I'm back out lookin'

I had it once but I no longer hold it
Gone, gone, gone away
I found [crossed out text] it once but I no longer own it
Led, led, led astray
Let everybody see it when I never should have shown it
No, No, No way
If you can't clone it you better lock it away
Is such a sad, sad, sad day That's why today
Alright everybody gather around
Everyone's gotta do their part
go start looking on the ground
And keep looking 'til you find my heart

I gave it away
But it was [crossed out text] disregarded
And the way I see it
It's probably in pieces
'Cause she left me so broken hearted

Knows she's born to teach
And baby, Dreams are free

The Defenseless
To strike the defenseless in nothing
To walk past the defenseless, Knowing you can strike

HOPE HAS A FACE

---

I've smoked so many cigarettes
I've probably given other people cancer
Light one up to kill the time
While I'm searching for some answers
How did I become myself
There's a million other people I'd rather be
Why is everything so dark and cold
Is this really how it was meant to be

---

The invisible gap between our fathers
seems like the real Grand Canyon long
But What is the reason that
It Is Because of these men we are born
Why do they seem so far away?
For as long as we live
or widest like Night and day
No one's ever crossed the bridge
What the eye sees will change
Perspectives never meet
One sees long range One measures in miles long
while the other only by feet
Is the way too narrow
Or the distance too high
That so few have ever tried
to get across while so much is lost
Not Knowing of the other side

---

I just melted in your eyes
Found something pure
From the sickness of lies
I have found a cure

Grounded on my knees
Head between my thighs
Free from this disease
I just melted in your eyes

The words on this page
Staring up at the courthouse
Thank god I ain't been there in awhile
Now I am only up against myself
When I stand on trial

As I stare up at the sky
I see that the moon's [crossed out: unreadable] still the same
with every season that comes and goes
The direction of the winds will always change

My sails have been blown
As far as the eye can see
By a cold, cold wind
Blowing out towards the sea

Out in the middle of the ocean
No birds flying in the sky
Is where I came to find myself
Waiting to die

Salt ate away my body
The sun burned away my skin
And I felt myself drifting away
The water never washed away my sins

---

Three thirty four
Nothing less
Something more

walk through an open door
open [?]

Three thirty three
Once what will be
Is Now history what was once
Inside of me

Three thirty five
Shall someday thrive
Though not yet alive
Only if I survive

---

Second rate, Second best
Noone's ever passed the test
Until I studied you
And you taught me
A lesson in love
Called chemistry
Talk about extra credit
I never would have believed it
Find myself asking if I really said it
Never before did I conceive it
I found out I've been waiting for tons
too young to settle for second best
I began to wonder if I was wrong
I am too idealistic I will confess

---

I don't remember the color of her eyes
I only recall that they were full of surprise
Though I certainly remember the color of her hair
And how soft it was when she was lying here

Sometimes I daydream about the soft curve of her back
In her long night gown rippled with lace
It's my last memory of her for she never looked back
She never showed the tears running down her face

---

I change the world
One person at a time
It's just the way I do things
But I'm doing fine

Never let down
a friend in need
For every one's entitled
To be done a good deed

And all that you do
Gets added up to either
The evils of men
or their code of virtue

So never stare directly
Into a pair of lying eyes
What they look at they trust
What you look at you despise

Keep your head above water
Stay afloat among the waves
Be careful of any sharks
And just know that hard work pays

---

One's loss, Another's gain

[Arrow pointing to the word 'somewhere'] East of San Juan and West of Santo Domingo
A young mother gave birth to a beautiful baby girl
All the gold in the world is what she was worth
It's been said that Angels would follow her wherever she'd go

But soon mother packed her precious bundle
With dreams by their side they both headed due North
After countless sleepless nights
And many miles of pacing back and forth

Together they sailed up the North Atlantic ocean
And across the Saragasso Sea
As the ocean's breeze was blowing
Blowing straight towards me

For a brand new start the sea did part
While the Angels prayed for her return
waiting for a change of heart
Inside the church the candles burned
by
Someone told me that if you listen near the waters of the ocean
Some times you can hear the island cry
As if reminiscing a final parting
Without even saying goodbye

Some say that when the shore gets windy
Down along the coast of the West Indies
The sky is calling for her to come home

It's been said that when the waves begin crashing
It is the Island's way of asking
Why did this child leave her all alone?

THE END OF THE ROAD
I saw the light, burning in your eyes
That alone, comes as no surprise
But I followed you, while so many others
have tried
When I said yes, that part of me died
So many roads that I've walked down
Just lying in the street so many things
I've found
In the unswept corners is where the
dirt hides
And many people and things can give
you a ride
I got picked up and I stayed for awhile
Then I asked to get dropped off like
it was going outta style
I looked down the open road
Decided to walk another mile
My shoes are wearing out
Almost time for another pair
But I'll wear what I've got
Until I get there...
To the end of the road
Where the sun sets down
The end of the road
When true happiness is found

---

The end of the road-where love holds no bounds
The end of the road - when just two heart beats
pound
Yours and mine, as everything else
Gets left behind
For only if you've searched
Can true love you find
You'll see things clear
As the road unwinds
Well I've set my course
The plans have been laid
But when the sun goes down
I've often strayed
Now I see the light, burning in your eyes
That alone, comes as no surprise
I'm following you, while so many others
have tried
Out on the dark path, I have found my guide
To lead me to the end of the road-
Where the sun sets down
The end of the road - to where happiness is found
To the end of the road-where love holds no bounds
The end of the road - on the other side of town
To the end of the road-
As they finally lay me down

THE GAME
The coach called my number
So I stepped up to the plate
The pitcher threw the ball
But I swung too late
Two strikes left
I'm down in the count
I can't give up
As I hear the fans shout
The pitcher throws the ball
After he checked the sign
A ball way outside
But the empire is blind
He called strike two
As the catcher smiled
I'm down and out
Swinging at anything that comes
In the bottom of the ninth
And we need a homerun
The pitcher does
what he must do
He threw the ball
AND I swung right through
Now he's jumping up
with his fists tightly clenched
I walk with my head down
Back to the bench

---

Time for the winners and the losers
To each go their seperate way
We both took our chances
In this game we play
Time to clear my ears
of their constant ringing
I took my shot
At least [crossed out: boo] I went down swinging
The stadium quiets down
After the outcome has been revealed
Everybody leaves the park
Only grass left on the field
Just my luck
The clouds begin to rain
As I scratch my head
And remember tomorrow
They'll be another game

OF THE DAZE
I used to be so increadably free
What the hell did they do to me?
I used to walk in the woods and breathe clean air
Now I try to go back but they're not there
Doesnt anybody care
Does anyone dare speak up?
You say hello to someone
They respond with "who me?"
Put their head down and walk by
And I'm thinking "so sue me"
I should shut up they probably will
And I aint got to free time to kill
Every day's a race against the clock
You think it will but it'll never stop
Beware of the suits
Beware of the ties
Beware of the truth
Beware of the lies
It's all meant to drag you down
You know that's what I've found
Be careful of the badges
Be careful of the light
Be careful of the doze
Be careful of the night
Not everyone is here to serve and protect
And just getting home safely is a real project
Every path taken is not direct
Living around here what else would you expect?

VISIONS

Am I setting myself up for a letdown?
Will the next season I see be Fall?
Will I smile for a moment only to frown?
Am I putting it all on the line just to lose it all?

Women I've met - the list is a mile long
Heartbreak I've suffered sometimes makes it hard to go on
For every heart I've mended Has been broken
All that's left is a poem or a song

Yet with every new face and each new passing soul
Time wasted comes alive and I feel I'm getting old
And what I've learned is that some things are out of your control
Will this time I rise above or sink deeper into my hole?

If you live in a cave you'll never see daylight
If you never get up on stage you'll never have stage fright
If you never do it wrong you'll never know when yo do it right
The only thing I have to believe in is what I saw tonight

My past tells me now this is good as it gets
But I've changed my ways though I have no regrets
We've entered a new year so place your bets
But you're dealing with a memory that never forgets

---

VISIONS con't.

By the waving of my pen you shall forever live on
Though everyone'll know about the rose in your bong
No matter what they think or say you'll just have to go on
Either with or without this poet named Tom

Be it by your culture or your ways I am so intreaged
Your words are my food and I am ready to feed
Perhaps you came along when I was in need
Maybe you are my Jesus and I need to believe

But don't let the weight of my world fall upon your shoulders
I've simply learned to seek what I want every year I get older
In this world of shapes I seek to be the molder
With global warming maybe life won't get any colder

All you need is love - I stole the Beatle's banner
In this earth full of impulses one must be a planner
With only one line left its time to ask you out to dinner
For in my mind I see only Visions of Johanna

All it takes is a fool like you
To push the button and we're all
through
The whole world's future and the
whole world's past
One slip of the finger and its gone
in a flash
With this in mind I start my day
Knowing that we could get blown away
You can hide under desks and you can
hide under chairs
But there's nowhere to run when
the siren blares

---

Only for one
I went someplace I'd been a million times before
Of course I'd know this time was different
But I had no idea what was in store
As the band played I closed my eyes
And I danced my dance and kept looking at the floor
Soon someone grabbed me
Whom I'd met a couple of months back
I said hello as I drank my drink
And when she grabbed my hand
I had no choice but to pull it back
Why is it that women know
That the man they want is taken
I see the look in their eye
But when the light hits my face
They see my eyes are vacant
Soon they know the only one I see
Is someone different from themselves
My heart tells me to let them be
That they're only out to ring their own bells
Several months earlier they may have taken their fill
But since I've known where my love lies
I would never bend to their wills
Finally I have learned myself
And have given my heart away
So I leave them by themselves
Only for [blacked out text] one would I stay

Tomorrow is the Day

The times are getting better
They say tomorrow is the day
Maybe then we can live forever [crossed out] or at least all together
It sure sounds good at least that much I'll say
[Blacked out text]
When we live the dream we may finally sleep in peace
Holding and protecting what was once out of reach
The times are getting better
They say tomorrow is the day
Yesterday was history
Time to let it slip away
We all remember Hitler
We all know of bleeding hate
Some still remember the bible
Although they're losing faith
Vietnam still conjures up
Horrid, oppressed memories
We all felt the pain of being born
Beginning our infancy
Let it out, free yourself, it's okay
The times are getting better
They say tomorrow is the day
You built your wall, now let it fall, it's okay
The times are getting better
They say tomorrow is the day
Hope is what we need, seems we found another creed
Finally something to believe, besides learning that we all bleed
We've found eternal Spring
Now we'll see what it will bring
Maybe Countrymen, maybe kings
Maybe even better things

---

Tomorrow
So much to say so little ink,
Too much confusion its hard to think.
Is this a poem or is it a song?
Don't yet know so I'll play along.
Try to gather how I feel,
Like Mr. Jones or the man of steel,
Who am I gonna be when I get old?
Don't wanna be bought and don't wanna be sold.
Life ain't easy but its better than dying,
Gotta fight on, gotta keep on trying.
I gotta good life, I should be glad,
But when she leaves it makes me sad.
Soon she'll realize I'm the man she seeks,
It might take some time even weeks and weeks.
Could take years just who's to say?
Might be in April or maybe in May.
I didn't start on the bottom but I'm moving on up,
I gotta buckle down I've had enough.
Drink and drugs just bring me down,
Probably the reason I get kicked around.
Somebody tell me when things will look bright,
Trapped in a tunnel, searching for light.
I may have a star and it may be blonde
But after years and years I feel no bond.
Should I pack up and move away?
Run from trouble or is it here to stay?

I WOULD ARGUE THIS IS my first poem

I'm a pretty good kid, I earn my pay
Regrets are Pathetic is my quote of the day.
Can't think about the past, only today,
There's always tomorrow is what they say.

Trapped in this invisable cage
Forced to live within the confinement of society
Walk along roads that they paved
Worship the idols that they made
Stray too far from the master's eye
He will yank on your leash causing you to yelp
Free thought and free expression
Has such a cost that few will dare pay
If they so chose to pay then they are
branded
with the devils conceit and called under
handed
Sacrificed for the good of the many
So that none will step out of line
Captain Courageous has been exiled
To a land of no sheep
Only wolves
Just where they would want a shepherd
to reside
Where only the birds hear his words
And only the stars heed his call
OFF in a foreign land of languages
That no one understands
He cries to the moon and prays to the sun
Tears and prayers never answered
The master must control them too
But one day the master will fall asleep
Leaving unherded all of his sheep
For even Achillies had his heal
To God even the Pope must kneel
Then the shepherd will raise his cane
Time for able to see the face of cain

---

No longer will the people be deceived
The true shepherd will be received
It shall be evident to every resident
That there is no need for any president
The shepherd will unite
While the master will urge all to fight
The battle lines will be drawn
As wrong versus right
The color of blood will be gray
The true color of people is neither white nor black
The day is coming... The shepherd is back

---

Happy birthday though I have no card
I hope I don't get feathered and tarred
My mind was thinking awfully hard
And I had to walk a thousand yards
Its hard to travel without a car
With only my feet I don't get far
You know how pedestrians are
But I saved my money in a jar
And I decided to set out through the snow
I can't afford much cause there's no grass to mow
But they say its the thought that counts you know
It isn't much but here you go

Since I am a poet I will fight you only with my pen
I'll drag your name through the mud
And then drag it through again
No need for fists
Fighting will only leave you bruised
And everyone would just love to punch a lawyer
But youre the one who's K.O.'ed when he sues
I've learned that paper cuts never heal
When you're on the front page of the news
When made known is your reputation
I win and you lose

Since I am a poet I will try my very best
To seperate myself from all the others
In my attempt to stand above the rest
I shall search to write what hasn't yet been written
Though there's not much that Dylan left
So I am friends with the long road I am facing
And have been given some direction which to begin my quest
Been patted on the back and shaken many hands
And Told by gold diggers the way is west
But Before I brag of Dean's lists and colleges
Only time remains the truestest

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder
But honey, I wasn't waiting around much longer
In what I will now say I will not hesitate
Honey, you were well worth the wait
And though I've never been good at predicting fate
With each new day my feelings for you keep getting stronger
Last night I couldn't be found sleeping
Though I certainly found myself dreaming
Looks like I've found someone worth keeping
So for now I'll just enjoy this feeling
That I've learned from mistakes
Before I sleep I lay awake
Believing this time it could last
When I was young I learned to walk
Only to learn how to crawl
When I was young I learned to stand
Only to learn how to fall
Now that I've grown
I've learned how to play the game
To win in the end
Now that I've grown
I've found that I've been tamed
I never break but I've learned to bend.

Such a waste of time
Following the blind
Open up your eyes
HAVEN'T YOU REALIZED?
Tis better to lead them
That
And still be breathing
That follow
and be left bleeding
Never tasting true freedom
