Into situations and places that I don't want to be
Keep begging me to become a member of the bourgeoisie

PANDORA'S BOX
Inside
There is [crossed out: closed] Pandora's box
[crossed out: Nowhere] no face on the clock
As this new day begins so surreal and sublime

Watch a [crossed out: high tide] [crossed out: soon getting] low
once
Gilde with the ebb and flow
As the sea dances in its endless pantomime

Tension has been released
Finally your mind is at peace
Being here alone is like traveling back in time

Lost freedom has been gained
How could you ever be the same?
Self-aware of a life [crossed out: without] ego or crime
[written below: lacking]

On the banks of this shore
One needs one's self and nothing more
No reason no rhyme and [crossed out: thus] everything is fine
[underlined: s]

No words that can hurt
No lessons [crossed out: needing] to be unlearned
Just a fire that burns but [crossed out: does] not scorch
Acting as a beacon, as a torch
helping to light the way
For all those who've been led astray
Neither at work nor at play
Is where I've come to find myself today

Putting your head inside

When life becomes nothing

Decided it was better

Every night

It has come to

SECRET ROOM
I have turned the knob
That opens up a door
To a secret room
That doesn't have a floor

Where the walls are bare
And there is just a folding chair
Floating in both space and time
And on it reads a sign
That states:
This is the throne to a kingdom which awaits
Any man who creates

A way to rise up above the fray
And reach the seat
Hanging below this archway
For he is the protégé

Who can free this world
From its ever present pain
Block out the sun
Turn off and on the rain
He who holds the power...
To build both churches or schools
to entrap and to enchain

He who holds the power...
To [crossed out: rott] destroy or to rule
And yet he will refrain

HERESY SPEAK NO EVIL

Heresy is a dislocation of some complete and self-supporting system of belief, especially a religion, by the introduction of a novel denial of some essential part therein.

Government sponsored torture is kind of hard to ignore
Especially when you're a prisoner of a misguided war
Lobbyists sit with wads of cash in their fists
For any politicians who find it too hard to resist
Seems that tax cuts for corporations and also the rich
Is the only way to build true bipartisanship
Yet our federal banking system is backed by worthless paper
Paper that is so very easy to tear
When you're afraid of not being afraid enough
Domestic terrorists win relying solely on ignorance and fear
We're losing our civil liberties so fast through unpatriotic acts
Soon we won't be able to breathe, speak, see or hear

Yet so many are more concerned with the theft of their identity
Than the absolute total loss of free will and humanity
They lack any great substance
Yet they're filled with such vanity
Sure, it is just pure insanity
This misinformation generation eats up whatever they feed ya
Be it Mickey D's, MTV, shows based on "reality"
all the while Becoming spoon fed by controlled media
Hey, now you can rent a new purse every month
Made from some famous designer
As you become one with your IPhone
That was made somewhere in China
Infatuated by celebrities and American Idols
Fox News, Dow Jones, natural disasters and the suicidal homicidal [redacted text]

I am growing tired of this disposable consumer society
Why are those who say our globe isn't warming
Still trying to lie to me?
Sure, there's no mass extinction of species
The ozone isn't depleting
We're not destroying nature with all of these toxins and pollutants
Oh no, our world isn't taking a beating
Using up all of our energy sources that cannot be replaced
While tin cans, paper and plastic that could be recycled
Are just tossed in with the waste
Our seas are overfished and rainforests destroyed
Why? So men can make money

---

Me? Personally...I'd rather be one of the unemployed
• Overpopulation
• starvation
• illegal border crossing
• transient migration
• in and outsourcing
• No more middle class
• Subprime mortgage predation
• No money for education
without universal health care

Now, Would [crossed out: consider] be considered six billion people over population
How could you have all you can eat buffets AND starvation
No wonder there's so many illegal border crossings
constant
and transient migration
en masse
Hence
There's no more need to leave the country to outsource
no more middle class
when you can insource right [crossed out: he] at home for there's
That is if the bank isn't foreclosing on your home
[crossed out: knowers together] subprime mortgage predations
As you're wishing that those would [crossed out: become]
have just left you alone
If This is the state of the union
I think [crossed out: a] a state of emergency is what I'd declare
And I haven't even gotten to inflation, funding
[crossed out: universal]
for education or a lack of health care.

For you never can tell
When there's a storm at sea
No way to predict the future
And what's gonna be
So have faith in us
And what your brother sees
Stand tall with your companions
On the land of good deeds

We can never tell
But soon a captain will be on board
Certainly Uncertain
So you'll have to take our word
---
ANY GIVEN DAY

Another morning
As the sun comes up again
You drink a cup of coffee
Say hello to your friend

Take a peek at the paper
Any good news today?
Seems like nothing but trouble
So face down it will stay

Eight o'clock in the morning
As your cubicle cries out your name
You sit down in front of your computer
The monotony remains the same

Another sip of coffee
The stacks of papers stay in your drawer
So many places you'd rather be
Find yourself asking what and who are you doing this for?

Ten years of marriage to your work
Yet how could this be so engraved into your life?
Dropped off the kids at school
A kiss goodbye to your loving wife

You really need a vacation
Tried to get the week off but you couldn't go
The boss promised you next week
You should have pushed stronger but how could you expect to know

Yet you're still sitting here
Up on the sixty sixth floor
You could have been ascending on a plane
Maybe heading off towards Europe to go explore

Gazing out your window
You see that the New York skyline's so pretty
And your office is such a bore
Suddenly you see a sight among sights
Never seen a plane flying so low before

This day was coming
---
The day of all days
The unthinkable enters your mind
World Trade Center's in a blaze

Last thoughts wonder how'd this happen and why?
After air control towers lose all contact
The sun's not the only sight in the sky
The devil's signed a new contract

Today is marked your day to die
As terror has no face
Neither hides in eyes
Nor hidden in place

Strikes in a second
Yet stays for a life
Leaving weeping children
Crying wife

Heroes are found
As evil is blamed
Building falls to the ground
A covert hatred untamed

Words filled with scorn
Still fail to articulate
Our rose finds its thorn
However too late

An eye for an eye is written in red
As some wave banners of hate
Even though people still hurt
We must retaliate

Somewhere, someone must pay
Without a doubt the highest of price
Maybe then we'll be okay
A tooth for a tooth, a life for a life

For the terrorists certainly know what's in store
The mothers of the enemy must suffer as well
For no one wins when you go to war
You throw away your bible when your earth is hell

So sad this is what it takes
For a great nation to finally unite

My senses are sharp as a tack
For so long the five points on my star were so dull
I gathered my horse and my wagon
And I got back on track
Freed myself from that living hell

Every footprint and footstep leads me farther away
After the mountains I've climbed it's all down hill
Passing ghost towns full of crumbling decay
When your only defense is your iron will
You cannot listen to what others say

Just me and my horse
And the miles ahead
Setting my own course
So sick of being lead
Heading towards the north
Yes that's what I said

WHEN YOU'RE GONE
If you don't want to see me now
I'd understand but please allow
Just think of all that we've been through
Find a new way of living
Maybe learn to forgive
Could we move on some how way (B) shitcan lyric
We could...
'Cause when you're gone
I'm writing down the reason for this wrong
You didn't know I wrote you this song
Now all I want for you to sing along - sing along
Hit the right key...
My uttered mind's filled with debris
From the insults you hurled at me
I'm not impressed with what you see
I've been so sad so very long
To think we could just erase our history
Let's start again : erase our history
-
(7) (8) give me a reason now
(8) TRY to make it through somehow
(7) (8) make our Ties

sclevered
But (7) (8) when you're gone
I'll find a way to make this right
Bet you didn't know I wrote you this song
Now all I want for you to sing along...sing along
Hit the right key

[Left page - printed sheet 2]
You'd be the only one - that's you for me
You'd be the reason I would want to be...
A better man and then we'd see...we'd see
Ahhhh...
When you're gone
I'm writing down the reason for this wrong
Can't face the dawn
Black or red
I guess you're in a rich square [?]
You'd be the queen
I'm just a pawn
I am the only one - that's you for me
But you'd be the reason I would want to be...
Now all I want from you is just sing along
A better man and then we'd see...we'd see
Hit the right key
You'd be the only one - that's you for me
You'd be the reason I would want to be...

Salem State Log, Thursday, February 18, 1999, Page 16, Living/Arts section. Includes unrelated article "The North Shore's best Chinese take out" by Matt Genese (about Salem Jade restaurant). Main article: "The best band you probably never heard of" by Tom Jensen, Contributing Writer. Text: "...quick check to see if you have a pulse: Have you heard of The Beatles? Yes, good. Bob Dylan and the Band? Yeah? I'm proud of ya' already. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers? Groovy. Now it gets a little harder...Roy Orbison? (Yes, the Pretty Woman song) great!!! Here it is, drum roll please......The million dollar question is: do you know who the Traveling Wilburys are? Take a look at the liner notes contained in volume one: Traveling Wilburys: Nelson Wilbury AKA George Harrison of The Beatles, Otis Wilbury AKA Jeff Lynne AKA the guy you've never heard of, Lefty Wilbury AKA Roy Orbison, Lucky Wilbury AKA Bob Dylan, Charlie T. Jr. AKA Tom Petty...it was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers who eventually broke themselves up...The Wilburys traveled far more than their music became...a remarkable sophisticated musical developed, considering there managers or agents, and the fur-thermore, why does anyone care?...more it was revered by the elders of the tribe who believed it had the power to stave off madness, turn brunettes into blondes and increase the size of their ears. But as the Wilburys began to go further and further in their search for musical inspiration, they found themselves the object of interest among many less developed species of nightclub owners, tour operators and recording executives...band just may be the greatest collection of individual talent ever. Harrison and Dylan are in their own atmosphere as far as rock goes. Petty has had a great career with the Heartbreakers and I've seen Orbison on those greatest hits of the 80's commercials on TV. We still don't know who the heck Otis Wilbury (Jeff Lynne) is or where he came from but the tests aren't back yet...It is surprising to see such big name stars blend together into the harmony that the Wilburys create. Although I sometimes confuse Petty's voice with Dylan's in a couple of songs (quite a compliment, huh?) I assure you I can tell Orbison and Harrison...The original Wilburys survived and the last of the Traveling Wilburys and the songs gathered here sent the popular laments, the epic and heroic tales which characterize the apotheosis of the elusive Wilbury sound. Good listening, good night and Let Thy Wilbury Done. Unfortunately, the list of remaining Wilburys has been reduced by one since Roy died. They've been looking for a replacement and have interviewed several candidates, among the noteworthy include Weird Al Wilbury- he sure can polka, Snoop Doggy Wilbury- I'm sure they're trying to find a younger, hip-per fan base, and finally there is George Michael Wilbury- even though he hasn't gotten a call back though he still has faith. The Wilburys recorded two albums, Volume 1 and Volume 3, but there is no Volume 2. Volume 1 won a 1988 Grammy for Best Rock Performance Group and included such hits as "Handle with Care," "End of the Line" and my personal favorite "Last Night," which became my college life theme song. This..." [article continues beyond photographed portion]. Note: this is marked "2nd copy" on an accompanying paper slip - a duplicate of the same newspaper page exists.

Letter: The Boston Globe, PO Box 2378, Boston, MA, dated Dec. 12, 2002, addressed to Tom Jensen, 25 Island Rd., Lynnfield, MA 01940: Dear Mr. Jensen: Thank you for sending your articles on Manny Ramirez and on Common Sense. I'm afraid I can't see them working in the Globe news pages, which is my area of concentration. In news articles -- even feature articles -- we take more of a dispassionate, third-person approach than you have taken in the pieces you shared with me. I'm not sure what would be your most appropriate forum for these articles -- perhaps an opinion magazine. This is not to say that you shouldn't try to sell future articles to different departments of the Globe... Free-lance writers that I have worked with have succeeded by filling a need an editor might have and then establishing a working relationship with him or her. That is the best way to break into the business. Best of luck to you in your writing career. Sincerely, John Yemma, Deputy Managing Editor, Sunday
