HERESY SPEAK NO EVIL
Heresy is a dislocation of some complete and self-supporting system of belief, especially a religion, by the introduction of a novel denial of some essential part therein.

Government sponsored torture is kind of hard to ignore
Especially when you're a prisoner of a misguided war
Lobbyists sit with wads full of cash within their fists
For any politicians who find it too hard to resist
Seems that tax cuts for corporations and also the rich
Is the only way to build true bipartisanship
Yet our federal banking system is backed by worthless paper
Paper that is so very easy to tear
When you're afraid of not being afraid enough
[Domestic] [crossed out] terrorists win relying solely on ignorance and fear
We're losing our civil liberties so fast
Soon we won't be able to breathe, speak, see or hear

Yet so many are more concerned with the theft of identity
Than the absolute total loss of humanity
They lack any great substance
Yet they're filled with vanity sure it's pure insanity
This mis information generation eats up whatever they feed ya
Be it Mickey D's, MTV, shows based on "Reality"
you become spoonfed by controlled Media
Hey, now you can rent a purse every month
From Some famous designer
As you become one with your that was
made somewhere in china
Infatuated by celebrities and American idols
South Park, Dow Jones,
Natural disasters and the [crossed out] suicidal

I guess I knew it would come to this
Its time to roll up the sleeves
I guess I knew it would come to this
Only one of us is gonna leave
You know I ain't just talking
Only one of us will be walking
The other carried out the door
'Cause after you're stabbed in the back
There's only one left standing you know its a fact
The other left bleeding lying on the floor

Drinking too much is no excuse for what you tried to do
I used to call you friend I used to put my trust in you
You put your hands on my girl when you knew she is true
I used to see you as a friend but now I'm coming looking for you

I GIVE ... They take
They Live ... I DIE TRYING TO SAVE
a drowning doggy in a lake
I give ... And they take some more
Both me and the doggy never
paddle [?] back to shore
Yeah the boat floats
But I ain't on it
Not named the minow - its the escargot
And no ≠ don't want it
Yeah, Gilligan's got it
But it's Mrs. Howell who flaunts it
You Know its Ginger who gives it
But Marianne who really wants it
Gilligan's got to be more responsive

The race remains the same...
There's just more competition
I tried to guide the dumb and blind
But they wouldn't listen, No

---

I once knew this girl who was more than a friend
Who's love for me was once so strong
we never believed it could ever ~~never~~ end
I bought her a pet once our love was born
Gave her a jacket to keep her warm
Feelings so strong would never bend

Most people call me [insert your name - it would be cool if your name was Tom], but you can call me tomorrow.
If I had four quarters to give to the four most beautiful women in the world, I'd blink three times and give you the entire dollar.
So, you wanna go halfsies on a bastard child?
Do you have a mirror in your pocket? Because I can see myself in your pants!
Are you an interior decorator? 'Cause when you walked in suddenly the room became beautiful.
Do you know what would look good on you? Me.
Did it hurt? When you fell out of heaven...
If I created the alphabet I would have put U and I together.
I'm new in town. Could you give me directions to your apartment?
Excuse me, but does this smell like chloroform to you?
If I had a nickel every time I saw someone as beautiful as you, then I'd have...a nickel.
Your legs must be tired because you've been running through my dreams all night.
Bam Bam... I'm no Fred Flintstone, but I can make your bed rock.
Something is wrong with my cell phone...it's just that your numbers not in it...
Hunny, there's only one thing I want to change about you and that's your last name.
See my friend over there? He wants to know if you think I'm cute.
Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?
You must know karate 'cause your body's kickin'!
Is your last name Campbell? Cause you're mm...mm...good!
Sorry, but you owe me a drink...because I have an incredible urge to plant you right here.
Your name must be Daisy, because I have an incredible urge to plant you right here.
Do you work at the post office or for UPS? Neither? 'Cause I noticed you were checking out my package.
Excuse me beautiful, but can I get at least a fake phone number from you?
That shirt is very becoming on you, but if I was on you I'd be cumming too!
Damn, if being sexy was a crime you'd be guilty as charged!
I may not be the best looking guy here, but I'm the only one talking to you.
The only thing your eyes haven't told me is your name.

endeavor and the culture that both reflected and reinforced it. This classic study, the direct successor to Said's main work, is read by Peter Ganim (Orientalism).

Dismantling the Empire by Chalmers Johnson - The author of the best-selling Blowback Trilogy reflects on America's waning power in a masterful collection of essays. In his prophetic book Blowback, published before 9/11, Chalmers Johnson warned that our secret operations in Iraq and elsewhere around the globe would exact a price at home. Now, in a brilliant series of essays written over the last three years, Johnson measures that price and the resulting dangers America faces. Our reliance on Pentagon economics, a global empire of bases, and war without end is, he declares, nothing short of "a suicide option". Dismantling the Empire explores the subjects for which Johnson is now famous, from the origins of blowback to Barack Obama's Afghanistan conundrum, including our inept spies, our bad behavior in other countries, our ill-fought wars, and our capitulation to a military that has taken ever more control of the federal budget. There is, he proposes, only one way out: President Obama must begin to dismantle the empire before the Pentagon dismantles the American Dream. If we do not learn from the fates of past empires, he suggests, our decline and fall are foreordained. This is at delivering both a warning and an urgent prescription for a remedy.

SCARED TO DEATH
Scared to death but not scared of death. Yes, I have been. But no, I am not. That doesn't make sense but it do believe it to be entirely true.
There's been times in my life where I've been scared to do things. I assume that's fear of failing or fear of rejection. Other times it's a typical thing like heights or being in the open water and not being able to see very far below the top of the water. Or it's driving in snow or perhaps falling. Everybody's scared of falling I'd bet. Or it's scary insects or pelicans for some strange reason. I never turn my back on a pelican! Haha. I don't mind spiders, though...
But I must admit that large birds do have a tendency to freak me the f*ck out. So that's some of my scared to death stuff right there.

So I do scare easy. But not of death. I generally don't mind when most things die. Why? Reason number one is that everybody and everything dies. In other words, people way cooler and better than me are presently pushing up daisies. That's an irrefutable fact.

Secondly, because I'm highly logical about death I've done the math and there's about a 75% chance that death isn't that bad at all. What makes me say this? Let's break it down

The words on this page
"Hive Mind" by Tom Jensen is a song about the negative impact of envy and anxiety on the state, and the damaging effects of collective thinking. The lyrics depict the protagonist's struggle with feeling trapped and isolated due to weaponized envy and negative energy. The song also touches on the loss of ostracization, division, and the loss of honor and faith in society. Despite feeling alone, the protagonist comes to a realization that sacrifice for a greater cause may be necessary to make a difference. Ultimately the song ends on a bleak note with the protagonist feeling abandoned and unheard, highlighting the power of the "hive mind" and the dangers of groupthink.

"The song lyrics "Perfect World" by Tom Jensen express a desire for freedom and rebellion against the societal norms that affect people's lives and over conformity. The artist challenges the listener to rise up and rebel against the lies they have been sold and to embrace a world where people are not just numbers. The lyrics also encourage the listener to reconnect with nature, to notice the beauty around them, and to plant the seed for a better world. The song encourages boldness and rebellion against the status quo in pursuit of a perfect world.

"Rain" by Tom Jensen is a song about the power of rain and pain. The lyrics speak of how rain and flowers grow, but can also lead to floods. Pain, too is a force that can fill up what's empty and hollow and remember things that were lost. Despite society's expectations, the narrator finds beauty and love in women who are "hefty, chunky, bumpy, and large." He sings about how he feels cozy, safe, and well-protected with his fat girlfriend, who loves him for who he is. This song humorously acknowledges the physical challenges of being with a larger partner, such as sagging beds and expanding chairs, but emphasizes that true love is defined by the pounds of the flesh. Overall, the song promotes body positivity and encourages people to love others for their personality and character, rather than their physical appearance.

"Refuge" by Tom Jensen is a song that explores the struggles of finding a path through difficult journey of life. The lyrics paint a picture of being trapped in the cycle of substance abuse and the pain that comes with that in order to break free. The song highlights the music industry in the past and the struggle to find hope in a profit-driven world. The chorus serves as a reminder of the cycle of life and that some sort of recovery is not an easy one and that those who suffer may only find a light after the struggle. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the narrator saying that the temptation of addiction may still linger.

"Status Quo Vibes" by Tom Jensen is a song that addresses the state of the world today. The lyrics suggest that our lives are like a flock of children, running away from the reality of being children, always drifting away every day. The song also touches on the hard work of others and the need to know where to go with the flow and when to stand up to the mess of a broken planet. The song ends a reminder that people are waiting for us to make a change.

The song urges the listener to look at their problems, face them, and explore the depths of their mind, suggesting that there are "thirty seconds" left to change the world. The singer asks the listener what he/she would have done to make a positive impact, and what is running out, something that they fear will run out of. Overall, the song encourages listeners to take control of their lives and make a difference.

"Pen and Paper" by Tom Jensen is a song about struggling to find one's place in the world and feeling lost in the chaos of modernity. The lyrics explore the desire to be a leader rather than a follower, to open one's eyes to the world and not blindly follow others. The song also touches on themes of self-discovery, sacrifice, and the fleeting nature of life. The chorus mentions scars as the "weight of humanity" and a "gypsy soul" to explore these themes, and convey a sense of frustration and longing for more. Ultimately, the song asks someone encourages listeners to stand up for their own beliefs and strive for personal growth and fulfillment.

While it lasted
It sure was fun
But now...
"Look out Hooverville...
'Cause here I come!"

Been living in a commune
And sharing this shack of mine
With a fellow tortured soul
That I met in the breadline
(free bread!)

His loaf was too crusty
While mine was three days stale
Still the time it was a pleasant one
Despite what you'll call 'our meal'

Once we feasted on fresh pheasant
And perhaps a glass or two of champagne
We toasted as the sun was setting
Now a toast: "Shall it shine once again"

While it lasted
It sure was fun
But now...
"Look out Hooverville...
'Cause here we come!"

Two days and you are feeling excited
Two days away from
the next stage of the plan
Two days until you travel back
Eager to share all you've learned
And the wisdom you've come to understand

One more day of highs and lows
One day to think about what has changed?
Inside of me I think I now know
How the rest of this story shall be told,
What shall be left out and
What shall be rearranged

YESTERDAY'S SONGS
by tom jensen

There is danger
Out on the street
Faces of anger
For you to meet
And some even stranger
Others you can't see
The chosen that always were
Along with those that'll never be

Their engines are burning
You can feel the heat
Though some keep on turning
Down a dead-end street
So here is a warning
To you from me:

Don't ride that train
Pick your brain
Then pick a lane
And when in the rain
Don't drown or be washed away
In the wind don't be blown astray
It's a sin that'll haunt you everyday
For your end begins once you start
Singing songs about yesterday

Five days to live in a moment
Five days left before time marches on
Five days to give the breath of life
To all the words you have spoken
Five days remain until you are gone

Four days says the calendar
Now hanging before you on the wall
Four days to better know yourself
Four days to see if your life
Belongs to you or to someone else
Four days left of pacing the halls

Three days then came the hurt
And doubting of my own self-worth
Three days left that's the time you get
To flip flop back and forth

Dangers of Alcohol

Professor Your Honor

As I turn on my television I find a baseball game on ESPN and I say to myself, "Alright! The Colorado Rockies are playing, they're fun to watch so I'll leave 'em on." I sat down on my couch put my feet up and the remote down. The first batter I saw hit a pitch down the firstbase line and it was just foul. The fan in the front row tried to grab the rolling ball but he missed as he dropped his beer and the ball rolled further away. I laughed. On the next pitch he hit a deep fly ball towards left field, right on the warning track but the fielder caught it right in front of the big Coors Light sign. Did I mention the name of the ballpark they're playing in is Coor's Stadium? By the way, Coor's slogan is "Tap into the Rockies."

During the fifth inning there was a fight in the stands, probably drunk college kids, and a whole row got ejected. They were pretty nice seats because as soon as they got tossed the seats had been taken by fans sitting further behind them. Between innings I kept the station on because Coors has some funny adds with their "Beer Man" advertising campaign. The first add between innings was a Coors add.

I believe I see a marketing strategy here: sports fans and beer go hand in hand. Personally, I am a sports nut. I go to about ten RedSox games a year, see an average of one thousand beer drinkers, see a few drunken fights, slurred swearing and taunting, and have to stare at the scoreboard sponsored by Budweiser.
---
I almost shy away from bringing potential girlfriends out to a game because it takes an open mind and alot of patience to tolerate all that goes on here at "Friendly Fenway". I always seem to have the seats with the most obnoxious drunks around but I started thinking maybe they're everywhere. The one exception with all the beer around that I don't mind is that I teach whomever I'm with to spot the guys and gals who have had a few too many. Its a game I call "Wet Hands." You see (a little background information) Fenway concessions allow only two beers to be purchased per trip so when people grab one they grab two. My college education leads me to believe that they get drunk twice as fast (College Algebra, I think). So I have whoever's with me look at the fans carrying beer in each hand. If their hands are wet then they're probably too drunk to walk straight and therefore have spilled some of their four dollar beer. This method is quite effective so if you're ever at a Sox game try it out.

This small piece of the puzzle represents most of the problem with alcohol: Its completely unavoidable. The phrase 'out of sight, out of mind' does not apply here. If I have a drinking problem I can't avoid being around it (like I can other drugs), I'm slapped in the face with it at every corner I turn. The only safe place to be is inside an empty room. I can't lock myself in the bathroom (Scope and the oh so intoxicating Big Giant Q - NyQuil) and hide and, my God, I can't even go to church because the Priest drinks wine every chance he gets. Even at Salem State I can't escape, Cappuchio's liquor store is thirty-three steps to my left and I know of students who drink during class. No escape, nowhere to hide.
---
Another problem alcohol presents are all the connotations associated with it: feel good, relax, mask your problems, party and meet members of the opposite sex. When I went to Framingham State College I had my first taste of drinking - college style. Picture a Keg Party with about four hundred people all laughing, smiling and screaming while funneling beers left and right. Beautiful girls getting drunk and horny and macho guys doing macho guy stuff. I fell in love. I thought I went to heaven. I soon learned that heaven and hell are seperated by a razor's edge.

Is drinking bad? Well, having a glass of wine or beer with dinner isn't exactly anything to go to AA meetings over. But what happens when after one beer you want another...and another...and so forth? If you're an idiot like me you play Russian Roulette with a shot glass. You tell yourself that I'll only have maybe two or three and no more. Sometimes you get lucky and stop and other times you spend your free time writing papers for your local judge.

I've seen many, many things in my twenty-plus years and I've come to find many truths about life and the nature of people. The most relevent to this paper is that there are those who can drink and there are those that can't. Guess which category I fall into? One clue- this paper. Some people are extremists when it come to alcohol, they either drink like a fish or they never drink because they know what they'll be like when they do. Knowing is half the battle. Acting in accordance is the other half. I've come to find that I know what to expect from myself if I do drink: Wet hands at Fenway.

Ask anybody who is still a cigarette smoker why they haven't quit the
---
act of inhaling smoke which cause wrinkles, shortness of breath, cancer and eventually death. Most often the answer will be that they've tried but either their husband or neighbor or boss smokes and the urge to have one is too strong to overcome. I've heard people say that they've quit heroin but can't stop smoking cigarettes. Alcohol is just as strong.

Alot of comparisons are made between alcohol and cigarettes and anyone who's ever been to a bar knows they often go hand in hand. Though both can kill you if you abuse them, the rate at which they do is very different. First and second hand smoke take years and years of contact before the risk of death becomes close but with alcohol death can occur at any time - even if you've never even drank. The phrase "Think when you drink" came about because of the obvious fact that some people don't. Countless drinking and driving deaths happen every year and too often the fatalities are innocent victims in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Men in particular always seem to get more violent when they consume alcohol. The expression 'Beer Balls' is a popular term used to describe how alcohol causes more fights and more domestic abuse. We all know someone who gets real rowdy when they're liquored up and who's always looking for trouble. There's also 'Bottle Cap Sniffers' who have two or three drinks and can't remember from six o'clock on. Maybe they took somebody home and got pregnant or even HIV. Maybe they drove home and ran over their neighbors cat or even their neighbor. The scary thing about alcohol is that you just never know what your getting into. To some people alcohol is like gunpowder, its that powerful and everybody knows

"God, I said, I'm just an ordinary man, why me? Why not ask someone else, someone more qualified?

"The thing is, Tom, it's not about being qualified," God said. "It's about being willing to step out of your comfort zone and trust me. I have a plan for you, one that will change the world in ways you can't even imagine."

"But I'm just a teacher," I replied. "What can I possibly do?"

"You can lead," God said. "You can inspire. You can show others what it means to live a life of purpose and passion. You don't need fancy degrees or a big platform to make a difference. You just need a willing heart and a steadfast spirit."

"I don't know," I said, feeling overwhelmed. "It sounds like a lot of responsibility."

"It is," God said. "But you won't be doing it alone. I'll be with you every step of the way, guiding you, supporting you, and giving you the strength you need to keep going, even when things get tough."

"Well, Mr. God," I replied, "I'm not sure if I can do this, but I'm willing to try, again."

"Tomorrow, Tom," I was certain Godly after the Reagan Administration, "I would have given a whole new meaning to 'trickle-down economics.'" On that note, God sat through the sheets and told me that I had to build a chicken coop.

"Tom," God says. "Here is what you must do, you must gather together all of the good people you know. Once you have rounded them you must build a giant chicken coop. The largest chicken coop ever made by man. This is your task, and this coop will protect you from the chickenise the hair de-fconos in and get you. These chickens will destroy all of the voter hamsters in the world. Tom, are you up to the challenge?"

"Yes, God," I responded, "But just then my sparrowy slowly began to see."

"Trust me," he hit. "Godly have one mission."
---
Sorry about that, but I wanted to give you a little extra time to reflect. The
way I do it is to think of this way: I am Noah and God has just come down to me
this afternoon and he told me that the flood is coming. Only this time it is raining
chickens.
"Tom," God says, just as the wrinkles of his eyebrows begin to lift, "You're
a good human yourself, but quite frankly, I'm just not impressed with the way
things are turning out lately. I think it's time to start over...again."
"Well, Mr. God," I respond very straight-faced as I look up at him, "I can't
say that I much blame you for feeling that way. To be honest, I would have sent a
flood down back in the eighties."
"You know, Tom, I sure came pretty close after the Reagan Administration
took over. It would have given a whole new meaning to 'trickledown economics.'"
On that note, God cut through the chase and told me that I had to build a chicken
coup.
"Tom," God says, "Here is what you must do...you must gather together
all of the good people you know. Once you have selected them you must build a
giant chicken coup. The largest chicken coup ever made by man. This is your
'circle,' and this 'circle' will protect you from the chickens so that they can't come
in and get you. These chickens will destroy all of the other humans in the world.
Tom, are you up to the challenge?"
"Yes, God" I responded. But just then my eyebrows slowly began to rise.
"Excuse me, Mr. God? I only have one question..."
---
"Yes, Tom," God answered me before I even asked him in the spoken
word. "You can still eat chicken."
"Thank you, God. You know chicken's my favorite."
Okay, this is the circle/chicken/Noah theory: Happiness on earth is
achieved through the avoidance of conflict. Because we have never been free of
conflict, we have never been happy. Most of us, anyways. The circle theory
involves eliminating any person in your life who causes you to be unhappy. Now,
of course, we're not talking about killing anyone, just simply placing them on the
outside of your circle. Almost every relationship has some tension in it at certain
times. That is part of being human. The circle theory applies to those individuals
who constantly act in an abusive and ill manner towards you. Those whom you
shudder at the sound of their name, and yet are "forced" to interact with them. Do
not continue to spread conflict- avoid them.
Precious few people realize the impact that stress and conflict can have
on an individual. And what do you call a collection of individuals? How about a
town, a state, or even a nation? If individuals continue to interact with other
individuals who cause them conflict then the negative effect is doubled. There is
stress placed, not only on you, but to the other person as well. Think of it this
way: When you are with someone who continually wrongs you, conflict is
created. Not only are you being wronged, but you are also reinforcing a negative
action. You are telling that person that it is okay to treat you badly. Therefore,
that person will "learn" that it is all right for him or her to continue to act in a
manner that causes conflict. And conflict leads to unhappiness. By placing a
---
person outside of your circle you are attempting to make the person realize that he or she is not treating you as he or she would want to be treated. This is "The Golden Rule" and the basis of organized religion. The circle theory does not preach - it creates action, causes change and generates reflection.

The circle theory has numerous other benefits as well. Most of us will admit that often there are not enough hours in the day. Everything in life is a trade off. The first day of class in Economy 101 you learn about guns and butter. You can't produce for all your needs and desires so therefore you are forced to chose one or the other. Guns or butter. Conflict or avoidance of conflict. People you love or people you dislike. The circle theory allows you to focus more of your time, energy and resources on the people whom deserve it. The time you have gained, now that you have place the said individual(s) out of your circle, may now be spent on either the people inside of your circle or be used to find new members of your circle.

I assume that God would want us all to maximize the effectiveness of our ability to help others. I also think that God would want us all to live in this world and really make a difference. I picture God coming down and saying, "Hello Tom, this is God again. I would like to see you go out and help out your fellow neighbors in this world. Your neighbor is your brother - go out there and make this world a better place to live in."

And just then those big, old, eyebrows would start to bend up again as God's nostrils would start to flare out just a little.
---
"Oh yeah, and by the way, shave that little patch of hair under your chin. It
looks like shit."
"Okay Mr. God, I will. Oh yeah, sorry about the chin thing. Bye."
"See you in six years, oops, I mean decades."
I picture God as being funny. The circle theory isn't very funny but it will help you
have more fun, as well as help you help out those you are close with. You can
only spend so much of your time, energy and resources helping others. When
you create a circle of people who are your family by choice then you focus your
attention on a smaller group of people. If you had a million dollars, do you think
that you could make more of a difference in this world by giving everybody you
ever met a dollar? Or do you think you might do more good if you gave ten
people a $100,000? Or maybe twenty people $50,000? Perhaps, if we added to
this question the fact that maybe you don't like some of the dollar people very
much, yet you love all of the $50,000 people and you really love the $100,000
people. Is it still a hard choice?
The definition of marriage from Noah Webster, himself:
MARRIAGE:: 1.) The institution whereby men and women are joined in a
special kind of social and legal dependence for the purpose of founding and
maintaining a family. 2.) An intimate or close union. (Webster's New Collegiate
Dictionary. G.&C. Merriam Company. Springfield, Massachusetts. 1973.)
Marriage is the formation of a family by one's choice - unless you are from some
very un-American-like country where marriages are arranged. You are free to
choose your spouse. As new combinations of husbands and wives form new
families are created. So one's legal family, or family tree, is always rooted in the
---
soil of choice. Therefore, the essence of a family is based on choosing which
individual you allow into your circle. The symbol of marriage is, of course, a
circular-gold ring. This is why the circle theory makes sense.
There are some cases in which present family members must be placed
outside of your circle. When members of your family are concerned, the key to
effectively using the circle theory is politeness and avoidance. When you see
them, be polite; yet send them a clear message. Tell them that they are treating
you as they would not want to be treated (Exodus 20). The idea is that when you
can back up your action (which will be avoidance) with the Golden Rule that
organized religion is based on, then there is little that the de-circlized family
member can say or do. Tell them that your circle never acts as a wall but only as
a defense against unhappiness. Let them reflect on why you feel this way. If they
truly love you then they will alter their behavior in order to create a peaceful
coexistence. And you let them back into your circle. If not, then I guess they -
ahem- flew the coup.
If everyone adopted the circle theory as his or her mantra then human
society would achieve an almost utopian-like state. Individuals would avoid
conflict with those who caused them unhappiness, as well as teach people to
treat others the way that they, themselves, would want to be treated. The circle
theory allows its subscriber to spend more quality time with loved ones and it
also gives users a feeling of importance in life because they are in charge of their
own circle. Even the meekest of the meek can feel like they have power. This
circular theory, based on the principal of family by choice, transcends both
---
religion and race as there are no limitations on who you can let into your circle.
And above all else, the circle theory will save you from the chickens!

Close your eyes for a second, I promise this won't hurt. Okay, now I want you to picture the people in this world whom you really care about. The way I do it is to think of it this way: I am Noah and God has just come down to me this afternoon and he told me that the flood is coming. Only this time it is raining chickens.

"Tom," God says, just as the wrinkles of his eyebrows begin to lift, "You're a good human yourself, but quite frankly, I'm just not impressed with the way things are turning out lately. I think it's time to start over...again."

"Well, Mr. God," I respond very straight-faced as I look up at him, "I can't say that I much blame you for feeling that way. To be honest, I would have sent a flood down back in the eighties."

"You know, Tom, I sure came pretty close after the Reagan Administration took over. It would have given a whole new meaning to 'trickledown economics.'"

On that note, God cut through the chase and told me that I had to build a chicken coup.

"Tom," God says, "Here is what you must do...you must gather together all of the good people you know. Once you have selected them you must build a giant chicken coup. The largest chicken coup ever made by man. This is your 'circle,' and this 'circle' will protect you from the chickens so that they can't come in and get you. These chickens will destroy all of the other humans in the world.

Tom, are you up to the challenge?"
---
"Yes, God" I responded. But just then my eyebrows slowly began to rise.
"Excuse me, Mr. God? I only have one question..."
"Yes, Tom," God answered me before I even asked him in the spoken word. "You can still eat chicken."
"Thank you, God. You know chicken's my favorite."
Okay, this is the circle/chicken/Noah theory: Happiness on earth is achieved through the avoidance of conflict. Because we have never been free of conflict, we have never been happy. Most of us, anyways. The circle theory involves eliminating any person in your life who causes you to be unhappy. Now, of course, we're not talking about killing anyone, just simply placing them on the outside of your circle. Almost every relationship has some tension in it at certain times. That is part of being human. The circle theory applies to those individuals who constantly act in an abusive and ill manner towards you. Those whom you shudder at the sound of their name, and yet are "forced" to interact with them. Do not continue to spread conflict- avoid them.
Precious few people realize the impact that stress and conflict can have on an individual. And what do you call a collection of individuals? How about a town, a state, or even a nation? If individuals continue to interact with other individuals who cause them conflict then the negative effect is doubled. There is stress placed, not only on you, but to the other person as well. Think of it this way: When you are with someone who continually wrongs you, conflict is created. Not only are you being wronged, but you are also reinforcing a negative action. You are telling that person that it is okay to treat you badly. Therefore,
---
that person will "learn" that it is all right for him or her to continue to act in a

David Fincher's Seven is quite possibly the most riveting horror flick since
Silence of the Lambs. The film stars two detectives, one played by Morgan Freeman
and the other played by Brad Pitt, trying to solve a string of bizarre murders. These
two detectives' styles are very contrasting. Detective Summerset, played by Freeman,
is a clever, solitary man with experience on his side trying to crack one last case
before he retires. Detective Mills, played by Pitt, on the other hand is a straight
forward, know it all rookie who soon learns that he is out of his league for he has never
seen anything like these murders before.
The first murder is a gruesome sight: a hideously obese man tied to a chair who
was forced to eat spagetti until he passed out and died. The second murder is even
more dramatic, a lawyer is forced to cut off 1 pound of his own flesh in order to avoid
being shot to death. The detectives find him dead in a pool of blood, missing a chunk
of flesh from his side, with the word "greed" written on the floor in blood. So begins a
string of murders revolving around the seven deadly sins gluttony, sloth, greed, lust,
pride, envy, and wrath.
This film does not portray any of the actual murders, only the gruesome
aftermath - corpses of all stages of composition. Seven is set in a grim, anonymous
city where it is always raining, this only adds to the darkness of the situation.
Throughout the film Mills and Summerset are constantly searching through dim, unlit
rooms and ratty corridors. In the final scenes, they leave the wet gloom of the city and
travel to the desert to witness the final two devestating murders.
---
Seven is disturbing to watch not just because it is a creepy film about a psychopath ( Kevin Spacey), but because the killer's master plan is so ingenious. Equally disturbing is the fact that this fictional story could be true if someone was actually sick enough to attempt it. The killer seems to be an average man who is so fed up with the world that he devotes his life to showing others, through his crimes and the people he kills, how corrupt the world really is. He considers each victim, including a lawyer, a rapist, and a prostitute, deserving of death and he takes it upon himself to act as judge and jury. The role Spacey plays as the ruthless killer is commparable to that which Anthony Hopkins plays in Silence of the Lambs for he has a very calm disposition, unnoticable in a crowd.
After watching this movie and realizing the full significance of what it is trying to portray I sat up for over an hour pondering over whether or not a scenerio like this one could actually happen. I believe if someone was willing to prove a similiar point that they could actually get away with it. I strongly recommend this film to anyone with a strong stomach and a desire to be scared.

THE COREY STORY

Tom Jensen

---
Thirteen years ago... October. A snapshot was taken upon a mountain trail
as the dark and rich brown earth gave way to the strong forest pine trees. There
was just a tiny half-watermelon shaped patch of sky visible at the top of the
picture. I was fat - with my lil' pudding gut hanging symmetrically over the barely
zipped blue sweatshirt my mom had tried to squeeze me into that day. He was
skinny - with his blue sweatshirt tucked slimly around his waist as he showed off
his bright white NIKE sneakers. I was frowning. He was grinning. We were
eleven.

The prime of one's life is found at the age of eleven. You don't start
fighting either with or for boyfriends or girlfriends because you're still waiting for
puberty to hit. The word hobby actually means something because of all the free
time you have and school is stress free and fun as you learn about the wonderful
world of the social caste system and the Totem Pole Theory. Do whatever it
takes to not be the bottom guy and we were never the bottom guys. You never
saw such intimidation before out in the schoolyard. I have an old poem, which
reads:
I was the toughest in my class
Because the size of my ass
So Corey will catch you
And then we'll both come to get you

The gazelle and the walrus and it wasn't any petting zoo either.
---
Corey and I were in charge of Saint Joseph's asphalt playground from the time of 11:15AM to 12:05PM. Oh yeah, and pretty much the rest of the time as well. Football was the way to prove your superiority at the age of twelve. Corey could catch, too and this kid had the ego to make it in any sport he wanted to. Luckily or unluckily, Corey hit puberty quite early and was as hairy as a Mountain Gorilla, comparatively speaking, to the rest of us (except Jill). He made this fat kid look like Joe &#*^@@$$ Montana out on that asphalt war zone where on one side the faded yellow parking lot line was deemed touchdown land and on the opposite side the corroded, and often, sharp chain link fence electrocuted the members of the scored upon team. This was our "frozen tundra of Lambeau Field" (GreenBay Packer's Stadium). I was the QB and the coach and he was the star athlete with a sprinter's speed. We took Woody (bottom of the Totem Pole kid who picked his nose and could often be spied eating boogers) on our team just to make the rest of the boys look bad for losing to us.

Corey and I were brothers at war as we were the only two boys in our measly grade of ten boys and fourteen girls who lived outside of Salem. We counted Nicole, Jill and Wanda as boys, too, but that is a whole 'nother story. Corey was from Marblehead and I lived in Swampscott yet we had become best friends so naturally we were always together - as a seventeen consecutive night sleep over record might indicate. We seemed to be missing puzzle pieces to each other's strengths and weaknesses. The best way to describe it is to imagine
---
a Superman's logo severed in half. Together we were absolutely invincible. We certainly appeared as polar opposites of each other but the common thread of Nintendo sport games, and sports in general, joined us at the hip. The fact that my dysfunctional family was a little more stable than his dysfunctional family (his dad drank cheap hard stuff but my dad only smoked pot) dictated that we spent the majority of the sleepovers over my house- be it Salem, Lynnfield or Swampscott.

School teaches you book smarts if you pay enough attention. Need teaches you street smarts if no one pays to you enough attention. Corey certainly excelled just about anywhere outside the classroom. You want to talk hockey? All right? You got it. He hung with the older crowd in Marblehead probably because of his much older appearance as he fit right in and sometimes even exceeded his older peers...the jocks who were the captains of the football, lacrosse and baseball team. You know, the tough kids. He introduced me to that mentality so we just used that to our advantage against the wimpy and easily bendable and moldable St. Joe's slaves, er, classmates. Corey was the outgoing member of our two-man gang (sometimes three if we let Woody in for the day) with a quick temper and rapidly increasing physic. I was the one who figured out how to get us out of the trouble that Corey had gotten us into. I was always busy.

Sister Alice was determined to rid the school of the only two students who not only lived outside of Salem but also didn't go to church either!
---
Corruptors! Oh the agreements we had to sign at the end of every grade before we'd be promoted. They made me go to a shrink because I pushed down too hard on my pencil. What can I say? The sharpener sucked! They made Corey's dad repeat working five Church Bingos because they allegedly lost the slips that stated he had worked on the nights he was assigned. My dad called her "unChristian." Corey's dad called her worse. We were united once again versus the entity of all that St. Joseph's encompassed. The rebels of eighth grade who ended up running a little racket right out in plain sight by the corner of Lafayette and Harbor.

Like I mentioned earlier, the best part of youth is all the free time you have. What did we do for fun you ask? Well, for starters, we expanded on the Totem Pole Theory by taking the two lowest Totem Pole members in our grade (Frankie "the scrub" and, of course, Woody) and we'd make them fight each other. "Either we'll do it to both of you or one of you is gonna have a good afternoon" Corey would often smile confidently. The reward? Not getting picked on for the rest of the day by any of the other boys in the class. And if anyone did pick on you then Corey and I would beat them up so that was a pretty rock solid guarantee. Let me say that that is a hell of an incentive to beat up a fellow dork. Oh the entertainment! The way I see it we did a good deed as well because generally at least one of them wouldn't get picked on for days at a time. That is way better than what they could have expected from the rest of our grade with no Corey and Tom protection plan available. Soon it included not being picked on
---
and doing Corey's homework for him. When they got smart they fought in the morning...

The core of Corey's genetic disposition was gently shining through during these formative years before my eyes and, being best friends and all, I had a front row seat. I gradually watched as Corey grew into the man I now fully expect him to be. I saw the anger and confusion rapidly rise and swell often without warning or reason. The ignorance of his mother filled his head as the alcohol of his father flowed through his blood. He had both of their tempers. I felt the fight, and not flight, reaction Corey would instinctively cling to when any altercation took place. I noticed how he never even tried to talk his way out of trouble any more and almost without hesitation would resort to verbal or physical confrontations and threats. It became too painful to watch, therefore our brotherhood lasted only nine years - at least sixty years too short. The picture that brought about this story was sent to me in an envelope with no return address last Christmas. Written on the back in pencil were the words (spelling as is):

THOSE WHERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

I recently met up with an old friend of mine from Marblehead who knew Corey as well - they too had used to be friends. He told me how Corey was working for the Town of Marblehead with the Cemetery Division. He said he'd seen Corey at a bar about three months back when Corey had asked him to back

THE WHO PAPER by Tom Jensen

My heroes are dying. There is no real way to sugar coat something as powerful as that. Half of the Beatles are dead. Jim Morrison, Hendrix, Joplin, Cobain, Presley (the young one), Marley- the list goes on... My daily routine involves checking the obituaries to see which of my favorite performers is no longer performing. Often when I am daydreaming in my truck or in the classroom I ponder who will be next? There are so many candidates to choose from but I've narrowed down my top five to:

KEITH RICHARDS
BOB DYLAN
DAVID BOWIE
ROGER WATERS
DAVID CROSBY

It's a little sick and twisted, I know, but that's just the way my mind works. I never put anyone on this list from The Who, yet bass player John Entwistle passed away just about a month ago and drummer Keith Moon died what seems like a lifetime ago. You just never know when it's your time to go. My heart goes out to the families of anyone who has left this earth but I admit that the thought of the possibility of lead singer Roger Daltrey or singer and composer Pete Townshend dying instead of John Entwistle was deeply saddening. The defense mechanism of "can't wait 'til next year because they might not be here" turns on. So here I am at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, Mass. I'm three hours early. Half of the original members of The Who are now part of the house band in Heaven, but on this side of the clouds the show goes on and the spirit lives for at least one more night. It's raining, but only on the outside.

"Hey, look at the two love birds in there You're ail set." "Thanks
---
brother, ' I responded, "Oh yeah, I feel just like Noah i'm ready for the flood." And on that note we were ready to settle into what was going to be our living quarters for the next three hours. Michelle sat in the bed of my truck as I added a few modifications for comfort, convenience and dryness. Michelle watched in amazement as I unveiled my creation previously hiding beneath a secured blue tarp In a matter of a minute I had nailed together the prefabricated frame for our tent and proceeded to secure the two large tarps I had brought There was no way that we were going to sit in the cab of the truck all afternoon if it rained so we needed a way to stay dry By luck, i just happen to know a thing or two about carpentry and have a ladder rack welded onto the bed of my truck Add to the list a hammer, 10 nails, a screw gun and a few pieces of seven foot strapping and with a little creativity we had our little foxhole. It felt like camping...only with eighteen thousand other campers

Michelle set up our folding beach chairs as i searched my plump backpack for cookies. When I get the munchies I love cookies Many say that well preparedness and having good organizational skills are the keys to enjoying a concert. Michelle and I decided to test this theory by bringing an exotic lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, goldfish, muffins, diet root beer and cookies. We sat in our foxhole eating lunch and playing Scrabble while watching the parking lot slowly fill with people

These are my people. The first thing that grabs your attention is all of the red and blue cups that people are holding. No Starbucks cups to be found. No pretentiousness, either. Everybody's got a beer and a smile. State law regulates that open containers of alcohol are prohibited but the unwritten rule is that as long as you hide your alcohol you may drink as much as you want. As you look off towards the outskirts of the paved parking lot you find that The Who fans are really in tune with nature. You'll find many of them going back and forth into the surrounding woods, generally in groups from two to five. My first thought when I noticed this was that they appreciate Mother
---
Earth. Later i came to realize that 1 the bicycle cops had begun riding around.

There was decidedly more security in the parking lot this year than there had been two years ago when 1 had originally seen The Who. This was a small matter, for Michelle and I may have been the only two people in the whole lot who weren't indulging in alcohol. We had our cookies. "That's not a word," I said, as Michelle attempted to put the letters Z O N E R on the Scrabble board. "Yes it is," she responded. "As in someone who figures out zones." What was I to do? We were playing no holds barred, which included proper names and swear words. I continued with my half-hearted plea by telling her that Z O N E R wasn't a word but that LOSER was. She picked up the five pieces and took back the triple word score she thought she had gained. Scrabble was beginning to create some tension between us so we decided that we had better walk towards the woods

As we walked between the rows of cars and towards the far off trees we listened to the sounds of the parking lot. It seemed that one out of every ten cars would have The Who s music playing, it almost seemed as though we were all working in an office and the parking lot was divided up into cubicles, each containing about ten or fifteen cars Each section of the parking lot was jamming to different albums We made a brief stop at a gray Volvo playing Babara O'Reilly and commented on how much we liked the young woman's shoes, which displayed the British flag above her toes. British flags were everywhere, much like the blue and red cups. We paused at a yellow Volkswagen to dance to Pinball Wizard and again proceeded off towards the woods.

We passed people from every walk of life on our way to the woods. Proletariats, mostly - the working class heroes who Pete and Roger represented. We had a voice and our voice was still able to speak. Teenagers played catch with a football as their parents cooked hamburgers and sausages. Mothers gave their cell phones to
---
their daughters just in case they were to become separated once inside. The typical Bostonian attitude of walking with one's head down had been left at home on this afternoon. Strangers exchanged pleasantries and shared what they had with their fellow tailgaters. Deep conversations ensued over the state of today s music scene. Although nobody came right out and said it, you could tell that if the world was going to end then this is where everyone wanted to spend his or her last hours.

Michelle's timid nature slowly began to fade as she realized that these were her people, too. Working class people who had taken this Friday off from work in order to brave the elements and return to a better time in history - the 60's Keith Moon and John Entwistie were absent in body on this particular night yet their presence was still felt. Ringo Starr's son had taken Keith's place on the drums and though no one ever said anything directly about it you could sense the changing of the guard beginning. I was here, a twenty-four year old kid listening to the music of his parents' generation - the light having been seen and the torch having been passed. There are no heroes of my generation for me to look up to. Eminem does not speak for me Music videos detract from the importance of the message of the music. Shaking your ass is not a message I want to follow. So I cling to what! know, to what my parents' knew, hoping that someday my children wili find someone to be their voice.

We entered the woods feeling grateful to know that there are still some people like us left in the world. We were happy to know that there was still something left out there to unite us without having to watch large buildings crumble to the ground. The steady rain began to subside as we found a clearing about twenty feet into the woods. Michelle sat on downed tree limb as I leaned against a large branch. We gazed into each other's eyes, firmly believing that there was still some hope left in this sometimes-nasty world.

"Be polite. Pass it to the right. Don't Bogart that joint... All right now, do you feel good? Let's go and see a show. Hey, where'd we leave those cookies?"

Biography of Tom Jensen

This book is dedicated to me. I lived it and breathed it and spoke it and seen it. I could have concocted a story so beautiful and courageous that people would have erected statues in my honor for it. Sorry guys and gals. Nothing but me.

Some people like writings which are very easy to follow. We are taught to worship law and order yet law and order strip us of freedom.. Welcome to non-chronological and illogical. You are lucky to get years let alone dates. Law and order takes away freedom. My friends, I'm here, there and everywhere. No rhyme no reason: well, actually there's a whole lot of rhymes and even more reasons but that will come beginning in the second sentence of my dedication and also the future. I have a job and I go to school and write poetry and attempt to be the nicest kid you know. Dedicating complete focus and attention is impossible - just ask my ex girlfriend.

A poetic life is so hard to lead
When distracted by sloth and greed
You just meet your need
As you pretend to succeed

Wear a false face
Make decisions in haste
When life quickens the pace
Just race the race

Finish first and someone must finish last
History teaches to remember the past
In the life we know the sun fades too fast
As soon as we turn the shadow's been cast

Let me tell you something friend, last night I didn't see any shadows. Pretty much coincides with a 4:00 AM walk home doesn't it? All in all a pretty memorable night. Started pounding Budweisers at 3:00 PM so you can do the math. The day began right on key. I painted seventeen walls during the day (Michael Angelo would have been proud) and all the while I was singing songs about which drugs I was going to be using later. I guess when it is a Friday and you have $86 dollars burning a hole in your pocket you begin having high expectations. Got out of work and by 3:30 I was well on my way. By 3:30 AM I was walking home in the freezing cold feeling a Hawaiian breeze at my back. I snorted a white line for every blue line on this paper. Right now after the 4 pills I ingested the keyboard is about half an inch from where it was yesterday and I'm a hell of a typer. I find myself often staring into oblivion as I sit in front of a computer screen that may be a little too bright. To make the story quick and easy

Take Home Exam

1. Can you be sick and well at the same time? State three examples.
I am sick, though I am well. I am an alcoholic and I will always be one. I will always be prone to abuse booze and right now I am sober. I am well right now because I haven't drank in a while yet I am sick because I am an alcoholic.
I am doing fairly well with my life over the last two or three years and I continually try to raise the level of those around me. Though I have recently felt somewhat apart from society as I am becoming increasingly sick about the future of the world and people on a whole. I now cheer plane crashes, killing sprees and natural disasters as I feel there are about 4 billion too many people in this world. I am doing well yet I am sick of my surroundings.
I believe that there can be a separation between both body and mind. Some may experience bad physical health yet have a great positive attitude towards their life. The opposite is also true as one may have a great physical body yet suffer from a mental disease, or just possess a poor conscience. One's body may be sick yet their mind may be well.

6. What is the spiritual dimension of health? What is important to access this? How might someone help this and what are the challenges of not having this wisdom?
The spiritual dimension of health is that many people lack the completeness that is necessary to live a meaningful life. Many think that they are the center of the earth and that the sun only comes up for them. Others may focus too narrowly on only a few particular elements of themselves. Wellroundedness is essential for anyone who is not a genius. Sure, Einstein and Mozart were well served by focusing on their work in order to better serve humanity yet there are not many of us who fit that mold. Being too narrow allows for severe alcoholism, greed for money and any other type of extremism that generally brings down the level of society.
Society is better served when individuals realize their place in this world and are willing to make sacrifices for the good of fellow man and the preservation of the earth. People who are not in tune with their spirituality can gradually destroy the moral fabric of society. Placing something above yourself also helps you find out what is really important to you. The best way to achieve health is to start at the top of your body and work your way down. Your head is the most important thing. All of life revolves around your head. It's like the engine of a car. A corvette looks nice but you're never going to get very far if the engine's missing.

8. What are effective ways of preventing STD's and birth control?

[Handwritten annotations:]

Excellent
word!
[Illegible cursive flourish]
---
Abstinence is the safest way to keep from itching, expanding your belly or
dying for lack of immune system. But let us be a little more realistic here.
The best bets:
METHOD EFFECTIVENESS VS. STD EFFECTIVENESS VS. CONCEPTION
condoms 30-60% 98%
cervical cap 50-75% 98%
diaphragm 50-75% 96%
pill 0% 99%
Norplant 0%

10. What are the aspects of physical health. Why is it important to attend to
the physical? How can you improve? What are danger signs following
exercise?
Physical health has many aspects including outward appearance, such as
body type, shape, hygiene and posture. The inside part of your body is also
important to your physical health. The body is transportation for your soul and it is the only
means of interaction that we have in this world. Physical health determines how
long you get to carry your soul around for. Physical health also has an impact on
your mental health as many people will perceive your personality through your
physical body. We all get an impression of people by what they look like. If you
have any serious physical health problems it may be harder to make people see
you as an equal worthy of being taken seriously.
Improving your physical health can be done through proper diet, exercise
and attempting to avoid any risky behaviors which may place your body at risk.
Walking around in Dorchester at three in the morning is a decent example of
avoiding risky behavior patterns. Primarily though, proper diet and exercise and
avoiding heavy drug use, drinking and cigarette smoking are probably the best
ways to maintain good physical health.
Danger signs after exercising can include shooting pains, dizziness,
cramps, muscle aches and severe increase in your breathing. If someone feels
any of these symptoms they should work out less and if there is no ease of
symptoms then they should consult their doctor.

11. What have you learned about health and wellness that you would want
to share with a younger child that you wish you knew when you were
younger?
I have come to realize that one does not wake up one day, such as I do,
and decide that they are a druggie, an alki, cigarette dependent with a poor diet
and seriously lacking in sleep. These are all patterns that have developed over
the course of my life. We are all creatures of habit and we must be careful in
which activities and past times that we take up because if we are not consciously
involved in monitoring our actions then we may wake up one morning and say as
I do every once and a while "What the &$#(*_#@ happened to me?" The
secret to good health is rooted when we are young. The secret is to avoid pitfalls

does believing that ketchup is a vegetable. I have been trying to eat healthier lately but it never lasts very long. I would like to get into a more set eating pattern but I live in a dysfunctional family and my scheduling often does not allow me to come home until well past 7 PM. I should start choosing alternative snacks such as fruit or celery but I have developed a liking of chicken kabob salads so at least that's a start.

16. What are the responsibilities of an individual and community dealing with an addiction. Examples please.
There are many programs set up to council those who are victims of addictions. There are endless supplies of AA meetings located around Salem and several health and recovery services in the immediate area such as CAB located at Shetland Park. There are several shelters such as Cromby Street that will help those I need as well. The problem is that people do not believe in social services programs aimed at treating people with self induced addictions. Bush certainly isn't going to help if his program for education is any indication. I have mixed feelings as well. The responsibility is mainly placed upon the individual who suffers from an addiction to seek treatment. No matter how much support an addict has in place there will always be moments when there is no support and times like these will dictate that individual's ability to successfully overcome his/her addiction.

It sounds cold but the truth is that if you make your bed then you have to lie in it and I always believe that people should be held responsible for their own actions. Period! If treatment and support groups can serve as a helping hand then that is great but it should not be the government's or state's responsibility to provide money and shelter for someone who chose to inject illicit drugs into their veins and contracted HIV or AIDS. Nor is it the government's responsibility to shelter and support individuals who chose to become so overweight that they become shut ins. We all have two legs and we all go through tough times and I believe in Darwinism so if you can't make it in the real world then maybe it is best for society if you do cease to exist. Life can be cruel but take one for the team.

19. What does it mean to deny and enable addictive behaviors? How can this be a problem in the family/ What actions can an individual take to change this?
Da Nile is a river and it always floats downstream leading trouble away from you. That's what they think. Denial is a last resort by an addict to mask his/her problem or addiction. It is a way to justify an unjust act and a way to continue one's pattern of use. It is bullshit, nothing more. Enabling usually stems from love. My family contains two severe, severe, severe cases of enabling and amazingly neither one of them pertains to me. You can not change enabling because some people will do anything in the name of love and protection. Some of these people are worse than the ones that they are enabling.

Case #1 My aunt married an alcoholic who helped her get off coke. Over the last ten years she has become an amazing person who hardly even parties anymore. She has a good job, nice car, nice house and a decent life. The only monkey wrench thrown into her nice life is that her husband is a raging alcoholic (complete with the shakes) who works out of state so that they can continue to coexist. Her happiest days are spent alone. She moved to Fla. Long ago and misses her family yet will not leave the sun of a bitch for all the farms in Cuba. She is torn between staying and going, although deep down she knows she should come back to Mass and leave his drunk ass (poetic wasn't it?). We have weekly talks as I continue to try to persuade her to leave. She will not put her foot down and say to him if you ever drink again then I will leave you forever. She is enabling him to drink by continuing to put up with the bullshit and always saying it's okay hunny I still love you. She'll probably never leave.

Case # 2 My grandmother has a son who was hit by a car when he was about twenty. Ever since his accident he has led a life of heavy drug addiction, stealing, fighting, raping, and anything else that would make the casual observer see someone as a welcome addition to the death chamber. He's in jail for at least five more years for armed robbery. My grandmother has continually supported him at the expense of herself and our other family members. She is very religious and believes that God likes what she's doing. Even God would recommend beheading for this horrible human being. Definition of enabling: Driving your son to Lynn in the middle of the night and buying a lot of coke with your own money and even going door to door on Washington Street because you're not sure which house is the crack house. He has a broken leg so he waits in the car. To quote the great John Wayne "Martha, get my gun."

# 1

MARRIED TO SOMETHING ELSE

You watch him come stumbling through the door
Find yourself wondering if you can take it anymore
The wedding ring bonds until death does part
But what's on your finger is not in your heart

After ten years its still the same
While the love is gone
The smell of whiskey still remains

You stare at the door until he comes home
Thinking your happiest days are spent alone
It's tugging at your heart
It replays in your mind
When he's sober he's one of a kind
But that only happens about half of the time

You know you can't let him drag you down
That's why he lives in another town
You dream of a future where you are free
Maybe it just wasn't meant to be.........

No, no, no
The wedding ring bonds until death does part
But what's on your finger is not in your heart

If you're not looking ahead
Then you're falling behind
But you'd never let it happen.........
A second time

Well its never too late for another start
Age doesn't matter when it concerns the heart

You know there's only one shepherd
And he's up there
You've found for him another sheep
For which to care
God knows everything doesn't always go
As it was planned
When you come to him for help
He'll understand

No, I never would have thought that I would be given the opportunity to work on rehabilitating my drug and alcohol addiction for college credit. To think that I thought that the best thing about this semester was taking History of Baseball (HIS 311) for credit. Top that! You did! As usual, I will attempt to blend poetry with my everyday life and in this case my wellness planning. As I have been facing these same problems for over five years my poetry is quite entwined with my use. Many 3:00 AM poems have been influenced by more than just my creativity. I know the road and I know how to succeed yet saying and doing are often found on opposite ends of the highway.

My life in a nutshell: a small window into the scene of my reality. After one of the craziest nights of my life I was hoping to turn the page. I waited out the hangover and put my time to good use. I started reading a book for college and I had to read a chapter on addiction. Four pages into it I took some pills that I had. Seven pages into it I was walking in the cold to meet my dealer. I made up my mind not to read anymore that night. Something inside me gets triggered when I see pictures of girls smoking bones and four lines of coke sitting on a mirror. That was page 156. I made it one more page and it was all over.

I have to go to court ordered weekly alcohol classes and some of my biggest times of weakness is when drugs and alcohol is brought to the forefront and rammed down my throat, bled into my veins and shoved up my nose. Not everyone can carry their cross all the way down to the end the road. I sometimes wonder that if I was blind and deaf would I still have the urge to party? No outside influences or passing temptations. See no evil, hear no evil. But I guess we all have our crosses to bear.

Just what is the secret to overcoming the largest obstacle in your path down the road of life? If you're me, alcoholic's anonymous can play a large role in your quest for sobriety. When I was going to meetings earlier this year I had over four months under my belt. I stopped going and I soon stopped being sober. Alison's Airplane is AA...

ALISON'S AIRPLANE

I find my religion in the basement of churches
Never mind a pew
Here I sit trying to learn from my mistakes
God knows I've made a few
If you'd made as many as I have
Then you'd probably sit here too

Here I sit and reminisce it all
Biding my time by reading slogans on the wall
A higher power is what I need
Something above myself can set me free

You can only tell what you're really worth
When you realize that you're not the center of the earth
The sun does not rise for you
No matter how much you want it to

Gravity was made for many reasons
Something to do with the sun, the moon
And the changing of the seasons
It may be true that it pulls you down
But in order to walk the road ahead
First your feet must meet the ground

Then the rest is up to you
Use your better judgment if you want to
If you choose to walk back down the road
From which you came
Don't point your finger at me
That finger of blame

Alison told me she had an airplane
Of course I didn't believe it
So I asked her to teach me how to fly
But she told me I couldn't see it
She said if you want to go for a ride
First you must know that the airplane's inside
At the time I didn't quite know just what she meant
But now I realize that Alison's Airplane is Heaven sent

[Handwritten in margin: To Teach!]

There is no single factor that either makes or breaks addiction or sobriety. Everything in this world is part of one giant chain reaction. Just as the earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the sun, one's life and patterns are often one giant circle of repetition. You wake up you take a shower, you brush your teeth, you have breakfast and go to work. You come home and have dinner, watch TV, pick out your clothes for the coming day and go to sleep. The next morning the cycle continues. We are all taught repetition as we are young and we are conditioned to it. Hence the struggles of an addict. This cycle becomes ingrained into the fabric of your existence. You hang with the same friends and you do the same things. You drink the same beer, you do the same drugs. You spend the same money. The whirlwind in which you're caught in moves so fast and the suction becomes so strong that you can not expect to take out just one variable of the equation and immediately begin a new pattern of existence. In the case of the addict you must make changes so drastic as to knock the rotation off its axis and into a new one.

I have two schools of thought on fighting drug addiction and alcoholism. The first one is to realize the biggest evils you face and substitute a lesser for the worse ones. The methadone program for heroin addicts. In terms of my father, going from raging alcoholic to a pot smoker. He lives a functional life by smoking dope at night. If he still drank then he would be dead. He substituted the apple for an orange. This may cure the specific addiction yet it does not change your addictive nature. He now only stutters and forgets his name occasionally. Rather than forgetting whole weeks and weekends due to alcohol induced blackouts he might now only forget to check his mail. Does this work? Yes, to a degree. He has the will power to stick to the plan. I consider this idea a compromise where you don't get exactly what you want but you still get what you need.

My other school of though on addiction is to use all types of drugs and alcohol yet only on a limited basis therefor limiting the effects of excessive use of any one drink or drug. For instance, Monday night smoke a little dope. Tuesday night maybe a few painkillers, Wednesday night snort a few lines, Thursday night have a few beers and so forth. By using this system you do not get the constant nosebleeds, hangovers or memory losses that would occur if you concentrated your addiction in one specific area. You are still an addict but I think that many addicts would live longer lives if they practiced this philosophy. Still you run the risk of overcoming a multitude of addictions when you finally come to the point where you really want to quit. I have tried both of these schools of thought and am perhaps the originator of this way of thinking. Both of these have their positives and negatives anyway you look at it.
---
I often ponder the possibility of knocking my addictive habits off their axis by completely changing my surroundings. I have an aunt in Florida who is dying for me to come down and live with her. Her husband is an alcoholic but he's done real well over the last few months. He works out of state in order to attempt to save their marriage and she is dying for companionship. My life is very entrenched in Salem and so is my addiction. I see familiar memories, faces and past party spots on a daily basis. My family needs me here and my schooling is going phenomenally well as I have made Dean's List for five semesters in a row. I'm making great money working with great people at my job and having lost my license for another year and a half the bus here really comes in handy. But often in the back of my mind I have thought that leaving might be the best solution. A change as big as moving a thousand miles away is the type needed when trying to overcome an addiction such as mine. But even this is not a surefire way to break the chain.

BREAKING THE CHAINS

Out in the distance
I think I hear someone calling my name
I guess even here
I am still not alone

To think that solitude
Was the reason I came
To be out here
So far from home

No matter where you go
Something or someone will find you
You'll never be able to break every chain
There is always one that will bind you

Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try to break the chain

Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try
Go ahead and try but some things will never change
---
I know what I must do. I must confine myself to isolation and dive into my own pool of knowledge. I must dedicate myself to sobriety and all of its positive and negative ramifications. I will lose something in the process but I will also gain from it. I know that I will do something great in this world as long as I do not die from an overdose or drunk driving accident ( I've had two already and my first one brought me within three inches to the left of a telephone pole of death). My fate is in my hands and only my hands. Excuses are like assholes... everybody's got one. I know at one end of the road there is a light at the end of the tunnel and at the other end a dead end. The choice is mine.

DEAD END
I know who you are and who you want to be
I know you're entrapped and you want to be free
You can't put off until tomorrow what needs to be done today
We've had this talk so many times before there's not much more I can say
---
When the days become years you'll know that its true
You'll look back and say why didn't I listen to you?
If it don't happen soon you'll never see me around
The reason I've gone is you've been bringing me down

I've been down that road let me tell you my friend
That sooner or later you'd see a dead end
The road will deceive you with its ups and its downs
It's hard to find direction with your head spinning round

You're flying so high in the sky with heaven so near
Feeling your heart beat with heaven so near
Even when you gaze down you feel no fear
You'll need a parachute to come back down my dear

Come on my darling its time to turn the page
The only way you're not dying is from old age
Please stop now 'cause I just can't wait
You're all grown up it's time to get things straight

I've been down that road let me tell you my friend
That sooner or later you'll see a dead end
The road will deceive you with its ups and its downs
You gotta get it together turn your life around

Two years later - I'd hope to see you again
But I couldn't make it so flowers I'll send
I tried to convince you but you wouldn't bend
So sorry for you now you'll never mend

I've been down that road I told you my friend
But sooner not later you saw the dead end
The road has deceived you with its ups and its downs
Its just so sad I'll never see you around

A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall

The smoke from a half lit cigarette waves aimlessly through the air. A light brown guitar sits in the corner awaiting the delicate touch of its master. Three empty notebooks sit atop the table curiously wondering what will fill their blank pages. Will there be small sketches of beautiful young women or perhaps some silly verses about how everybody must get stoned? An old weathered, green chair, still feeling the pain of a dropped cigarette, reminisces about the time it's owner, the master, once sat for what seemed like an eternity trying to capture the soul of a man named Hollis Brown. An old, rusty razor lays, forgotten, in a corner clutching on to one last piece of cocaine. A broken guitar string sits beneath a pile of trash still humming the melody of what it prays comes true in "Forever Young", and in the state of mind that it will never be thrown away.

A familiar face appears from behind a closed door. All of the objects in the room experience a buzz of excitement. Perhaps one of them will receive their master's attention, if even only for an instant. The master sits upon the green chair and sighs. "Must be another sad love song", the chair thinks to itself. The razor, on the other hand says, "I think he's angry at the world, I hope he's not as angry as that 'Masters of war' song... You know, the one that goes:

And I hope you die
And you're death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

The master grabs the yellow notebook and begins jotting down a few lines. The guitar waits patiently, for it knows that the master always uses him and the notebook together. As plain as bread and butter and as sweet as peanut butter and jelly. After a little while, just like clockwork, the notebook is set aside and the inevitable happens. A quick tuning and he's off. "What'd he write, can you see?" asks the guitar, even though he'll be one of the first ones to hear. To which the notebook responds, "It's kinda hard to see considering everything's upside down but it looks like it says..." At that very instance the master begins strumming along and starts singing softly:
---
they were."

As he gazes out the window at the pouring rain out side the master wonders again who exactly he is writing for, who are the ones who really enjoy his work. He doesn't realize that his biggest fan is sitting right here in this room, it is actually his guitar. The two make a marvelous pair, not unlike the guitar and the notebook. Sometimes in this world in which we live in things are not always what they seem. This is the reason that the master continues with his work- to explain the unseen, to show what is right, what is pure and true and consequentially, what is wrong and needs to be changed. So with his aging face, fading voice and wearing guitar he carries on with no direction home, like a rolling stone. He knows how it feels to have to seek shelter from the storm. He is aware that the times they are a'changing and he's spreading the word to the uninformed. With that thought he begins to sing a few verses from one of his songs:

Stake my future on a hell of a past
Looks like tomorrow is coming on fast
Ain't complainin' 'bout what I got
Seen better times but who has not....

The guitar understands the master's thoughts as they have been partners for many years. If not for anyone else, he has been touched by their many nights together. The guitar has experienced what life outside the room is like through the master's music and is happy inside the dry, warm room. For the master has predicted that a hard rain's gonna fall and when you're made of wood you can't really hold an umbrella can you?

As the master is getting ready to lay down for a night's rest he happens to realize that he was sitting on one of his albums: SELF PORTRAIT by Bob Dylan. And on that note he falls asleep contently remembering what someone once said to him, "Don't think twice, it's alright."

ODE TO COREY (A FALLEN HERO)

This is a story about a boy who's dog ran away
Who, during a snow storm, went out to play
Corey set out to find a loved one - no matter what the cost
But as the dog came home the little boy became lost
When you're a fourth grader finding a dog is no easy task
Should you risk your life for a pet? It depends on who you ask
The fact that Corey said yes should come as no surprise
He loved that dog to pieces you could see it in his eyes
Little Corey was a hero so he set out through the snow
It saddens my heart deeply to tell his tale of woe
What a brave little soul, right up until the end
What a brave little soul to go search for his friend
A little bit of inspiration is what he left behind
He listened to his heart, paid no attention to his mind
And right before he left our world with the situation oh so grim
The last thought that filled his head - his dog would do the same for him
The saddest of it all and the reason why we cried
If not for the heart of an angel he never would have died
When you think of him in memory try to wipe away your tears
And remember him for what he was which is wise beyond his years

"Boy, were we off!" shouts the guitar, over the loud playing. "Sounds like a happy song."

After a quick cigarette and a half of joint the master begins to think to himself. He wonders to himself if all the pain and sacrifice of all his endless nights of writing and playing are worth it. He wonders what will fill the next blank page. He remembers the night he turned heads as his audience watched (some in anger that he "sold out" and others in enjoyment) as he magically blended folk and rock into one. He remembers the boos, the cheers, and all the fans over the years. A smile is brought to his face as he thinks of going from playing in corner coffee shops in New York all the way to the big time.

He thinks of the night in the Chelsea Hotel writing "Sad-eyed Lady of the lowlands" for his wife Sarah The master sits back in his chair, puts his feet on the table and stares at his pen as stares deliberately at his pen as if looking for inspiration. The pens screams out inaudibly, "I love you, man!" But alas. The master cannot hear these words of love, though, he just continues staring at the pen.

The master then begins thinking about his almost fateful motorcycle crash and begins humming something about "knocking on heaven's door". The old, rusty razor yells with pride, "He used me that night, my God! I didn't sleep for a week!" The notebook, always of good humor, responds, "HELL, you could have killed him right there!" The master is always the center of attention in this room, as you might expect. Of course, being the greatest of all time can have that effect on people, er... things.

As the master sits about to take a little rest he began to pick up a magazine in which he has been quoted. He ponders the ups and downs of being famous and all of the expectations that come with it. He reads his dialogue from an article about him, "You can't try to come up with songs that people will think is all hip and cool, you have to write for yourself. There are too many phonies out there and all the one hit wonders. They come up with a gimmick catch phrase, write some mumbo jumbo and the people love it. Six months later they've blown all their dough and the fans never even knew who they were."

As he gazes out the window at the pouring rain out side the master wonders again who exactly he is writing for,

which we live in things are not always what they seem. This is the reason that the master continues with his work-to
explain the unseen, to show what is right, what is pure and true and consequentially, what is wrong and needs to be
changed. So with his aging face, fading voice and wearing guitar he carries on with no direction home, like a rolling stone.
He knows how it feels to have to seek shelter from the storm. He is aware that the times they are a'changing and he's
spreading the word to the uninformed.

If not for anyone else, he has
been touched by their many nights together. The guitar has experienced what life outside the room is like through the
master's music and is happy inside the dry, warm room. For the master has predicted that a hard rain's gonna fall and
when you're made of wood you can't really hold an umbrella can you?

As the master is getting ready to lay down for a night's rest he happens to realize that he was sitting on one of his
albums: SELF PORTRAIT by Bob Dylan. And on that note he falls asleep contently remembering what someone
once said to him, "Don't think twice, it's alright."

Doctor Kevorkian and Euthanasia

Tom Jensen
December 13, 1996
EN 21.102P
---
JENSEN 1
Assisted suicide is moral and should be decriminalized (if not
legalized) in all fifty states. I shall prove this by giving
statements from Jack Kevorkian supporters, telling the stories of
right-to-die spokesmen, and explaining the benefits of legalizeing
doctor assisted suicide.
Pro-euthanasia people typically portray euthanasia as a case
of individual liberty. If a person decides that he or she wants to
die, perhaps you or I do not think this is a good decision, but
what right do we have to tell him or her that he or she cannot do
this? Like abortion, euthanasia is not for everyone in every case
but it should be available to those who feel they need it. Doctor
assisted suicide should be legalized because if a doctor cannot
perform the suicide the individual may not be sucessful and couldy
suffer more as a result. Assisted suicide should also be legal
because it provides a serene death, opposed to what could be weeks
or even months of suffering.
This topic is quite possibly the most controversial issue in
today's medical field. Euthanasia is defined as the deliberate,
painless killing of persons who suffer from a painful and incurable
disease or condition. Performing euthanasia or assisting on a
suicide is illegal and punishable by court of law in the United
States. There is one man who is risking his medical profession and,
some say, even his life in order to stand up for his belief that
terminally ill people who are suffering have the right to end their
life. This man, who many consider a hero, is Dr. Jack Kevorkian.
---
JENSEN 5
Dr. Kevorkian." says Cheryl Gale,48, who wears number "13" in
honor of her husband Hugh, the 13th suicide Kevorkian assisted.
Recently, more than a dozen members of this group gathered
over Neal Nicol's (a counselor who helps Kevorkian) house to chat
with each other and the man they consider a hero, Dr. Jack
Kevorkian. "Whatever anyone else says, he'll always be a saint,"
said Doreen Ackner, whose sister died in February 1993 with
Kevorkian's help.
One new spokesman for the right to die movement is Noel
David Earley, a terminally ill Rhode Island man who suffers from
Lou Gehrig's disease. Earley, who is 47, had announced he would
kill himself on December 4th, before amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis decimates his muscles and nerves, making it impossible
for him to swallow and then suffocating him. Since the disease is
progressing differently, Earley has since rescheduled his death
allowing him more time with his friends.
Earley's suicide is an escape from suffering and a protest.
He believes the terminally ill should be allowed to kill
themselves. No healthcare professional will attend Earley's
funeral, although one doctor did tell him how to kill himself and
even supplied him with what he needed to do it with. Earley said
he will not reveal the doctor's identity because of a recently
enacted Rhode Island law which makes assisting a suicide a felony
punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Earley's illness mainly restricts him to a few square feet
in his home and he stays mostly in a big blue recliner. He often
---
speaks to healthcare workers and friends preparing them for his
death. He wrote Dr. Kevorkian, who offered to help him but Earley
declined after finding someone local.

Earley says he approaches the day peacefully, confident he
is doing the right thing. The day he dies, he plans a party with
his friends. "I'll do the things I love most in this world - food
and sex...Then I'll inject myself with the compound and I'll go
to sleep. Then the fun begins. It's the greatest adventure I'll
ever have."

People like Noel David Earley, who are doomed to great
suffering, deserve a pleasant death. No one should be forced to
suffer against their will because the government will not allow a
doctor to help a terminally ill person end their life. Would it
be better if Noel David Earley found no one to help him and died
miserably in a hospital bed? The answer is a simple "No."

Legalizing doctor-assisted-suicides would have many
benefits. Patients would be able to die peacefully without their
family and friends seeing them suffer, less money and resources
would be used to keep those who want an end to tubes, machines,
and suffering alive, and finally, more jobs would be available in
the medical field. Legalizing doctor-assisted-suicide is not
designed to push ill people towards ending their life it will
simply offer them a choice between a miserable death or a
peaceful one.

Even though I try
to kill myself daily
I'm still breathing...
(cough)
but just barely
Someday I'm gonna die
Perhaps that why
I don't chose fact
But fiction
When it comes time to talk
Over the subject of religion
I have realized
That there's something
Greater, more important than me
I am just another ant
In this hurried race
To hell with humanity
Because I found Christianity
And I am learning my place
When to sit, stand and kneel
I'm becoming a nameless face
But hey...they say I am healed
So I boarded their bus...
But soon there was no
driver at the wheel...
The guy dressed in black
He was in the back
Spreading the word
to all the little boys
Once they began
to cry and shout
That's when the driver
had to get out...
When he could no longer
turn a blind eye
Something...
something that rhymes with smile

CLINICAL DEPRESSION
Parents: She finds a bottle of pills and she holds them in her hand
Daughter: My whole world is falling down and noone understands
There's one way to solve my problems-thats for me to go away
After I'm placed down in my grave I can't hear anyone say:
Parents: She had the whole world in her hand but she only let us down
Now she's gone too far away and she's only six feet under ground
What could make her think that we didn't love her so?
What could make her think that there was no place left to go?
Daughter: I'm sorry mom, I'm sorry dad
I hoped that this would make you glad
I couldn't bare to see your face
When you thought your love's a waste
I didn't want to hurt you nor cause you any pain
I guess I imagined my loss would be your gain
That would pass just like the moon with just a hug and kiss
This is your one mistake that'll never be undone
We used to have two children, now we're left with one
Everybody stumbles when they learn to talk
Everybody mumbles when they learn to walk
One thing we've learned with wisdom is you give it your best sho
We prayed you'd be strong but you barely even faught
Did you ever listen to anything we'd taught?
When you swim against the tide you give it all you got
Daughter: With your expectations oh so high you nailed me to the wall
I ended up laying down when I tried to stand too tall
Whenever I try to shift to a higher gear I always seem to stall
When I needed you the most I was too afraid to call
Parents: Oh how did we miss the truth with the writing on the wall?
Why did you say nothing? We should have known it all
If only you had told us for we can be so blind
If only we had known we would have been more kind
Daughter: What have I done? This shouldn't have been my fate
Now its so dark I guess its time to sleep
I realize I've only made one mistake and now its far too late
I'll be here for an eternity and all I'll do is weep
Parents: Always remember that you're daddy's little girl
---
The world would've been your oyester and you its pearl
I would do anything to give you a second chance
I'd trade my soul to let you have just one last dance
You were my daughter and you were my friend
If only you had known that it didn't have to end

MAYBE SOMEDAY

Maybe someday my wounds will mend
Maybe someday their laws will bend
Darkness has slowly become my best friend
Been trying everything but this feeling won't end
Confusion is my brother, I'm the son of desperation
Lost is my desire and I'm still searching for motivation
I've put everything off until the end of time
My friends think they're psychics trying to read my mind
I tell 'em you can't read blank paper with only blue lines
The traffic lights are red and stop reads every sign
I only see things blurly, no better than the blind
People ask how I'm doing and of course I tell 'em I'm doing fine
I want to scream at them even though they're being kind
I wish I could tell them the truth but I just don't feel inclined

Every morning I wake up and I pray I can stay in bed
Sleep is so peaceful and so good for the head
I got to think positive - that's what the doctor said
The best I can do is that soon I'll be dead
When I told Dr. Kevorkian he didn't wanna see me no more
He shook my hand as he kicked me out the door

Now I'm sitting on the corner with my coffee and cigarette in my hand
A lady passing by threw change in my cup and said "Sorry kid but I understand"
So I drank my coffee and almost choked on a dime
I imagine I'll be feeling like this until the end of time

Just then I saw a beautiful and I took her by the hand
I said "Please come with me away from this harsh land"
But she must be foreign for she didn't understand
Why is it, life never turns out the way you planned?

I bought a newspaper because I needed some good news
Took one look at the cover and kept singin' the blues
All this mayhem and murder just made me feel even worse
Five men died in an car accident including the driver of a hurst
I'm part of the problem- when you hear this you ain't gonna feel any better
---
Hopefully it'll be sunny and my life will change like the weather
It's always raining and the clouds never want to pass by
When things are this bad why do I even try?

I'm stuck in this place with no money and a car that won't run
If I ever get a new one I'm driving out the rain and finding the sun
A car with a CD player and Bob Dylan on the stage
To a place where I can have a wife and a kid and die of old age
Maybe someday I'll be free of this rage
Maybe someday I'll be free of this cage
Maybe someday empty won't read the gauge
Maybe someday God's hand will turn the page
Maybe someday I'll have it made
Maybe someday......it's just not today

Another one hit wonder?

Just heard such a laim band it makes me wanna write
If I saw them on th streets theyld ask me for my autograph, right?
Wasting up my time with some made up catch phrase
If they got in my mind theyld be trapped in a maze
It takes more to be an artist than having a cute blonde in the band
I wouldn't say nothing but its been gettin outta hand
Sexy says kiss me and I'm thinking outta my head
If I'm her biggest fan then maybe she'll crawl into bed

Another one hit wonder, another one bites the dust
Another one hit wonder, another one collecting dust

Buy the record - see some skin
Another record - do it again
If you want reality then you're better off listening to me
Hopefully I'll be here for awhile before they carry me off to sea
When you're looking for information you know I'm your safest bet
In this world of uncertainty you take what you can get
They say the easy way is living life out on the run
I knew a man who did it and he said it ain't no fun
It don't even matter if you're number one or on the bottom of the pile
Sometimes everybody, everywhere has to walk that extra mile

I'm not a one hit wonder I got more than 15 minutes of fame
I don't play chess and I'm not a pawn in their game
After I'm gone you'll remember my name
Spending sixty bucks on my box set I know that sounds pretty laim
I'll lower it to 15 if to my funeral you came

A man down the street you know he doesn't trust a soul
He never heard of a diamond coming from a piece of coal
I once had a girl who became a part of me
But after my body rejected her I had to set her free
Sometimes I smile the rest all I do is frown
Everytime I'm high something brings me down
There's a girl who I've just met who I'd really like to know
But she's busy 23 hours a day and there's no place for us to go
---
With everything I gain there's ten times more I lack
I try to do everything before I hit the sack
Empty blue lines fill the paper while white lines fill my brain
Try tying your galashes when you're standing in the rain
My long hair flowin' in the breeze while others wait in vain
I know those who hurt themselves and those who run from pain
But I, myself, I'm from a different breed
A little less jealousy a little less greed
I don't know you or where you've been
And you don't know me or the things I've seen
I have been burnt by the sun
I've thought I was number one
My toes got stepped on and my back forced to the wall
And like an idiot I got back to them everytime they called
And soon I felt so small
But tomorrow always changes, back to the bottom again
And you'll never be the same for your mind it will bend
So many young minds all around
Yet knowledge is not so easily found
I'm shining up my shoes for a big night out on the town
But I'll probably come home after there's noone around
Though free from my handcuffs my hands are still bound
I'm stone cold like Austin and slammed to the ground
After being up for awhile I'm on my way down
And if I'm a one hit wonder please bannish me from the radio
If it happens to me out to different continents I'll go
When I'm asked I'll say it isn't so
I'll respond I'm just your average Joe
(Not a one hit wonder)

I GOT A LITTLE JEEP THAT BARELY GETS ME AROUND
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER ROUTE, IN THE SAME OLD TOWN
WALK TO THE MAILBOX AND THEN WALK BACK TO MY RIDE
BUT I ALWAYS GET CONFUSED, THE WHEEL'S ON THE WRONG SIDE
I WORK SIX DAYS A WEEK BUT IT FEELS MORE LIKE EIGHT
LET ME TELL YOU MY FRIEND, MY LIFE IT AIN'T GREAT
IF IT RAINS THEY DON'T CARE THEY SEND ME OUT IN THE FLOOD
WHILE MY FEET GET WET AND COVERED BY MUD
THERE'S A BLIZZARD OUT THERE AND THEY DON'T CARE OUT THE DOOR I GO
NOTHING STOPS ME FROM DOING MY JOB NOT RAIN NOR SLEET NOR SNOW
THERE'S A DOG WHO CHASES ME DOWN THE DRIVEWAY TRYIN' TO BITE MY ASS
I GOT EVEN WHEN HE GOT IN FRONT O' MY JEEP I PUSHED DOWN ON THE GAS
THIS IS THE LIFE OF A MAILMAN IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW
I GET PUSHED AROUND BY EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE I GO
I GOT DONE FROM A HARD DAY'S WORK MY BOSS WANTS TO TALK TO ME
WHEN I SAW THE PINK SLIP IN HIS HAND I KNEW I WAS HISTORY
SO I PACKED UP ALL MY STUFF AND HEADED OUT THE DOOR
NOT SURE WHAT I'M GONNA DO BUT I AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE
I'VE GOT TWO KIDS, TWO EX-WIVES AND MORE THAN MY SHARE OF BILLS
I'VE GOT AN IDEA THAT'LL GET ME EVEN BUT I BETTER MAKE OUT MY WILL
I WENT OUT TO BUY SOME BULLETS AND GUNS TO SATISFY MY URGE TO KILL
BUT IT TURNS OUT I GOTTA WAIT TEN DAYS 'CAUSE O' THAT GODDAMN BRADY BILL
TEN DAYS LATER I'M BACK AT WORK JUST WHEN THEY THOUGHT THE COAST WAS
CLEAR
BRING THE YELLOW TAPE, BRING THE WHITE CHAULK, I'M LISTENING TO THE LITTLE
VOICES IN MY EAR
I JUST GOT LAID OFF AFTER WORKING HERE FOR TWELVE YEARS SO YOU BETTER
RUN AWAY
NOW I'M BACK AT THE OFFICE AND I BROUGHT A FRIEND, I CALL HIM MR. A.K.
HE'S GOT ALOT OF BRONZE BUT NOT MUCH BRAIN
HIS ADDRESS IS 47 CEMETERY LANE
DON'T WORRY YOU'LL ALL SOON KNOW WHERE HE RESIDES
YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE SO GO AHEAD AND CRY
BESIDES--
YOU CAN RUN, YOU CAN HIDE
BUT I'M ALREADY HERE INSIDE
WHAT I HAD WASN'T MUCH BUT NOW I GOT NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE
NOW YOU'RE ALL MY HOSTAGES WHICH ONE OF YOU DO I CHOOSE?
SO MUCH TO DO, SO MANY BULLETS- SO LITTLE TIME

I didn't want to hurt you nor cause any pain
I guess I imagined my loss would be your gain
Parents: Whatever you did in the past is nothing compared to this
That would pass just like the moon with just a hug and kiss
This is your one mistake that'll never be undone
We used to have two children, now we're left with one
Everybody stumbles when they learn to walk
Everybody mumbles when they learn to talk
One thing we've learned with wisdom is you give it your best shot
We prayed you'd be strong but you barely even fought
Did you ever listen to anything we'd taught?
When you swim against the tide you give it all you got
Daughter: With your expectations oh so high you nailed me to the wall
You placed me on a pedistal so I was bound to fall
I ended up laying down when I tried to stand too tall
Whenever I try to shift to a higher gear I always seem to stall
When I needed you the most I was too afraid to call
Parents: Oh how did we miss the truth with the writing on the wall?
Why did you say nothing? We should have known it all
If only you had told us for we can be so blind
If only we had known we would have been more kind
Daughter: What have I done? This shouldn't have been my fate
Now its so dark I guess its time to sleep
I'll be here for an eternity and all I'll do is weep
Parents: Always remember that you're daddy's little girl

AROUND THE KING'S TABLE

All raise glasses to propose a toast
Tilt back brims to honor a host

Raise glass to lips to praise the day
Lifting a hand as all guests say:

"This man who sits at table head
Who sits before us breaking bread

The finest king throughout the land
Deserves a toast so raise a hand"

As we sit around the table
We laugh away the night

We drink for as long as we're able
And toast glasses for all that's right

A toast to our tongue which tastes our drinks
And to our brains that swim and think

A toast for grapes which are used for wine
Raise cups for livers, both yours and mine

Drink a taste to honor waste
Of dribbled wine spilled on your face

A toast for chairs on which we sit
Give thanks for thrones on which we shit

Before we sleep and go to bed
Upon light pillow with heavy head

Let us toast that tomorrow
Shall be the same as today

So far away from sorrow
That toast again we may

ANOTHER EPIC POEM
As the cameras flashed
Somehow I held everything back
Oh, how I was so ready to snap

Yet so caught up in the moment
I knew I could not show it
So I made it seem like I cherished it

As on the inside I'd lie
and try to hide
All of my rough, jagged edges
and my innermost blemishes

While on the outside I'd smile,
Shake hands and high five
The people as they filed
Up and down now
They're crowding around
both sides of the aisle

This was before your time
This was before your time
This was before your time

Back when you didn't know me
Back when I barely knew myself

This was before your time
This was before your time
This was before your time

Back when I was searching for
Safety in seclusion far away from someone else

But when I heard the magic of your words
As you sang I actually praised the lord!
And those of you who know me would all agree
That's my own personal version of blasphemy...

Why did I believe in you?
Was it because I knew
You'd come to believe in me, too...
Eventually...

Or was it because
before you came around
I found I was spiritually empty...
I was oh so empty...

Then suddenly, you appeared.. dear
And here was this well
Ahh.. Refreshing as hell
Just then your voice rang out
As clear as a bell,
"Drink up, drink up...
For we have more...
Yes, there's plenty!"

Since that day
I have NEVER lost my faith

My faith in me...
My faith in you...
My faith in our ability to adapt or escape...
To either leave or lead this human race!

In a land full of hiders
Who have yet to discover
They're cannon fodder for the insiders

Uh Oh! The last guy who said that got shot
But the guy before him became a movie star

Few know it was Moses who built the arc
Before Noah came and stole it and rode it
And then stripped it for parts...

Oh, shit.

Better not talk.

We have more in common
Than complicity in bombing
All the starving unpeople
Suffering in the desert sand

It's gone too far south
To vote our way out
Don't have to be
A Kennedy to understand....

My inner dialogue is trapped in a box
like a fucking mime, yeah.
They keep telling me to believe
But all I see is them robbing me
Fucking blind, yeah!
It's not by accident
the North hates the South, yeah.
Slay the whip master, no matter
This engine runs by itself!

Democrats love all strangers,
just not uncle or brother.
Republicans only love God,
No, they don't like each other!

The last president who told the truth,
his initials are now a verb.
Killed by his own CIA and probably the Jews,

Yeah. Israel first, America second,
But it could be worse.
Fake views, no, fake news.
Fake views, yeah, fake fucking everything.
Something, something, something,

All our leaders are bought and paid for
by the state of Israel.
They said if you want a record deal,
then you better not tell.

SONG 1
READING I BLOW (RAINBOW)
I'm having a bisexual party,
I want everybody to come.
I think I might be bi...
I'm gonna go blow a guy...
Maybe three or even four
Look at me, I'm such a whore!
I will suck almost anyone...
Curved or straight
Small or hung
Both taste great!
Sooo much fun!
Black and brown I go right down
Yellow or white I won't bite!
Pants are down but dicks are up
When I'm in town y'all erupt

SONG 2
I'VE BEEN SLAPPIN
I've been slappin' crackers.
I've been blowin' actors.
I've been mappin' the city.
I've been feelin' pretty shitty.
I've been... I've been havin' the time of my life.
But I've been payin' the price.
I ain't thought once, I sure didn't think twice.
Ever since the day I first kissed a girl
I've been chucking lots of clams
Collecting up pearls
Diving deep for clams
Ever since the day I first kissed a girl
I've been diving deep for clams
And chucking out the pearls yeah
Forgetting who I am
And my place in my place
In this world
Ain't about no silly laugh
or wearing black
Something, something, something
Can't be taken back
Cum in my mouth if you'll love me forever...
Cum in my eye if you won't!
Cum in my pussy if you want a family...
Cum in my ass if you don't!
---
There's no more faking
When you're so close to breaking.
Revealed what has been latent
When the final action's taken.

Revenge often tastes sweetest
When there's blood lust in your eyes, yeah.
The jury, we don't need them,
No, I won't be doing time, No!

A slug to the dome starts the show,
You smile wide when the blood flows.
You look to your left, there's victim number two,
Just pissed herself, she didn't know what to do...

It should be a crime
To be that fine,
It leaves a brother sighing
Looking at that big behind...

[Cut off at the bottom left:]
I make you horny.
